Puzzleosaurus - Dinosaur Jigsaw puzzles [text]

What I liked I really like the colorful graphics and fun facts about the dinosaurs. I also enjoyed the real life comparisons to the length and weight of the dinosaurs. In the advanced level I liked the fact that you had to twist the puzzle pieces making it more like a typical puzzle and helping with fine motor skills. This is something that I think separates this app from its competitors that I have seen.
Improvements First, every time the narrator says "one-fourth" it is considerably quieter than other spoken words. Next, I got extremely frustrated in the advanced level when I could not figure out how to twist the pieces. In the end I did figure it out but it took me a long time. I would have appreciated a hint box that told me how to twist the pieces. Maybe it could pop up when you change the setting to advanced and then it would not take away from the game. The last suggestion that I would have is that there should be more puzzles. There are free puzzle apps with the same numbers of puzzles.
General review Overall this app is fun and educational at the same time. It is interactive and easy to learn how to play. It also features an advanced level that is not only more difficult because it has more pieces but also because the player has to twist the pieces on the screen which I loved! This is a fun app that will work for multiple ages! I would like to see more puzzles to make it worth the $1.99 price. Overall I would recommend this app!

Jellybean Tunes - Learn to Read and Compose Music (version 1.2) [text]

What I liked What an awesome app!! I really like that is goes step by step giving definitions and pictorial examples of written music. I think that it is good for beginners and children alike. I really could see this being used in a middle school beginning music class or with children and I think both groups would benefit equally. I am not very knowledgeable about music and I learned alot!
Improvements Overall I really liked the app. There seemed to be some interference when I replayed the music that I had recorded where I guess I was actually hearing where I was tapping the notes on my iPad. That annoyed me. I would have also really like to have had an example on the songs that I was not as familiar with. So I could have say listened to Three Blind Mice the correct way to see if I had done it correctly. Other then that I thought the app was very cute!
General review This is a GREAT app! It is good for children or even young adults interested in learning about reading or creating sheet music. It has learn, play, and create features that you can explore at your own pace of learning. The app also records voices as you play the music so you and your children can sing along and then listen back. The possibilities are endless on this app!

Shape Pals [text]

What I liked I like the positive reinforcement. The incorrect answer choice disappearing after it was chosen was a cleaver feature that I liked. I love that stickers are earned heightening the motivation and giving the game another facet. I also really like that the name of the shape appears at the bottom of the screen to help with the early reading skills. I also really like that you can turn the voice on and off and reset stickers.
Improvements Overall I thought the app was very cute and developmentally appropriate for toddlers. The only thing that I think could have been better would be unlocking the more difficult shapes after a certain number of basic shapes correct maybe. I like the variety of shapes but I think to start off with it could have been basic shapes and then maybe thrown in the more advanced shapes one at a time as the game is played more and more. I was a little frustrated to see that when I went on to write my review that it was free after I had paid for it a week before.
General review I really like the variety of shapes available on this app. I would have rather seen basic shapes first and maybe after a set number of stickers were earned maybe you could trade them in or earn the more advance shapes. I really liked that the app has the written name of the shape on the screen when the child is looking for it so that will aid in early literacy skills. This app is fun and educational!

What I liked I love this app! I love all of the options on detailing my expenses and my income. I love all of the colors. It is easy to put it expenses and income both. A feature that I really like that I think sets it apart from some of the free finance apps is the reoccurring transactions. That is a great plus.
Improvements The one thing that I would like to see that I did not find was a way to password protect the app upon opening it. I know that other free financial apps have this option available. This way when my son who is two is playing with apps on my phone I do not have to worry when I step away that he will open and mess up out family finance records. The other option that I am not even sure is possible or it may be that I just don’t have the necessary devices myself. I would like to see a way to wirelessly send the report to my printer so that I could show my spouse.
General review Overall this is a great app. It is worth the money! It is customizable to your own preferences. The app also gives great graphs to show you where your finances are going. The ability to set reoccurring transactions is a plus and super convenient. I would recommend this app to friends!

What I liked I really like the illustrations and graphics in this book. I read them with my two small boys who enjoyed manipulation the characters and food in the games. I really loved this format of book and the read a couple pages interact with the story then read some more. It was very child friendly and engaging!
Improvements Although I really liked the games I was playing with my young son who would press on say the carrot and then let it go before it went into the bag and sometimes it would disappear or we could see it but it would not allow us to move in into the bag. We remedied it by clicking back a page and then going back to the game but I wanted to let you know. It did the same thing moving the men.
General review Over it was an adorable book that my family enjoyed reading and interacting with. I love that there are other stories available and that there are no in app purchases/advertisements that my small children could click on by mistake. I recommend not only this app but also the other books by this app creator. I am not home now but I will post onto iTunes as soon as I get home with my review.

What I liked What an interesting app. I did not know that apps like this existed! It was a really cute app in an adult way. I think for me the hardest part was remembering to check it daily but I did like that you could check tomorrow as well as today. I liked the contrasting background and sign colors. There just wasn't really a lot to the app to comment on.
Improvements I would have liked to have seen the sign names when you click on the first screen. For example, I am a Libra and I am used to seeing scales for my sign so I had to go in and out of different signs to figure out which one was in fact the Libra. I do like a nice horoscope from now and then but I am just not sure that I would pay for this. I would have liked to have seen it do something else other than just tell me a one paragraph horoscope. I would have liked to see a regular horoscope or maybe a feature for couples where you could put in your parteners sign and have a combined horoscope.
General review Overall this was a cute app in an adult kind of way. It is strictly a horoscope that changes on a daily basis. You can see your horoscope for tomorrow and today and that is it. It has on horoscope for singles and one for couples for each zodiac sign.
