PhotoGridPro v2.1 [text]

Link to the App Store

What I liked As soon as I opened the app I noticed the vast selection of templates. I also really liked the rotation when choosing a template. After I'd chosen one I played around with the adjustments which I found helped a lot to find the perfect size and shape. Adding a picture was easy enough and quite fast. I was impressed with the Photo Editor. I thought that the effects, stickers and colored fonts really brought the photo to life and I liked being able to rotate and crop the parts of the photo I wanted to save.
Improvements A guide would be useful for beginners. When browsing through the editing tools quickly it was a little bit slow and sometimes pause leading me to accidentally clicked on an option I didn't want. More stickers would be appreciated. The app crashed a few times when I left it for a few seconds and then came back and selected a tool. It mostly happened when choosing the contrast option.
General review Overall I thought this was an excellent photo editing/enhancing app. The loading time has been very quick and it's easy to use and to navigate. It also has a really nice selection of editing tools and effects. This is a lot better that most of the other paid apps in this category and this one is currently free. I will definitely continue to use this.

What's Faster LITE Cars- Ultimate Trivia & Puzzle Game [text]

Link to the App Store

What I liked I'm amazed the vast selection of cars, other vehicles and animals. I like the fact that you can mash any vehicles you want and watch them compete. The app itself is very easy to use and navigate. The graphics and response time of the game are truly brilliant. Knowing that a percent of my purchases goes to a good cause is rewarding too.
Improvements An iPhone, iPod and iPad mini version would be nice as I don't always carry my other iPad with me. There are a lot of in-app purchases which can be difficult sometimes as I turn off in-app purchases to avoid purchasing by mistake so I'd have rather paid a lump some for the app with all the features.
General review I'm really am amazed at how many vehicles and animals there are in this app and how brilliant the graphics are. I've yet to experience any crashes or glitches and have been playing for a week. The app runs smoothly and quickly on my iPad. The game has definitely improved my knowledge of vehicles especially cars and is really fun and easy to use.

Fractions+ [text]

Link to the App Store

What I liked Firstly I like how simple and easy to understand the tutorial was for both adults and children. It's also very addictive once you get into the flow. The graphics are very colorful. It's only been a few days but so far I'm impressed at how fast the learning curve has been.
Improvements While it is very satisfying after completing each level/card it tends to be a little bit repetitive and after long periods of time the app can seem more like work than educational fun, especially for children. It would be nice to see something that can hold mine and others attention/concentration although I haven't any ideas at the moment as to what that could be.
General review An entertaining, educational app that has a easy to follow tutorial. The graphics are picturesque. It's a very creative way to introduce or further improve fractions to children and adults too. It can be quite challenging at times and it's most enjoyable when playing for medium periods of time.

The Amazing Digestive Journey [text]

Link to the App Store

What I liked The atmosphere of the app creates a relaxing environment for the kids to learn and enjoy themselves. It's really educational, there were topics and information that I myself didn't know and I'm glad the children have learnt. The graphics are excellent too, very detailed. It also encourages the user to better take care of there body.
Improvements I think the app pretty much covered everything that was relevant to the topic(s). At the present time I can't see any room for improvement but I am very interested in seeing future apps by the same developer, perhaps featuring the digestive journey of some other animals.
General review It's a fun, educational app for all age groups, especially children. The app covers the whole digestive journey, every little detail. The graphics are fantastic. Knowing more about the process of digestion and how hard your body works, it makes you want to take better care of it. I'm looking forward to seeing more apps by this developer.

Money Math: Counting Coins [text]

Link to the App Store

What I liked I've only tried a few money counting apps before but this one is definitely the best. I like the American themes throughout the app and all the background information about the US. The privacy features give me great peace of mind when the children use the app. It's very child friendly.
Improvements Maybe in the future the app could feature currencies from different countries along with some background information. I'm not really sure there's anything else to be improved, it's excellent for what it is and covers just about everything in it's category.
General review Unrivaled in it''s category. It's a fun way to introduce money and counting skills to children. The privacy and child friendly features are some of the best aspects of the app. The facts about the US are educational and interesting, there are also many colorful American themes.

Wubbzy's 123 Learn & Play [text]

Link to the App Store

What I liked After downloading the app, I took a look at the Wow! Wow! Wubbzy! TV show and I think this app is a wonderful addition to it. The tracing feature is a nice technique for encouraging children to learn their numbers and the vehicles are really nice to look at. The coloring pages are something that all kids will enjoy and there's quite a few ways to make a great piece of artwork. The music videos are a big favorite in my family, they're very entertaining and engaging and zany, they're great to sing along to.
Improvements At this time, I don't see anything that needs to be improved. The app pretty much covered everything I had hoped for. I would like to see more educational games added in the future when the kids have finished, have outgrown or become uninterested in the current ones (which shouldn't be for quite a while).
General review Educational and zany fun. A great addition to the Wow! Wow! Wubbzy! TV show. There's plenty of things for children to do within the app, whether it be learning their numbers, creating wonderful pieces of artwork or having silly fun singing and dancing to the music videos.

Spellyfish - Short A Words (v1.0.0) [text]

Link to the App Store

What I liked I really like the name "Spellyfish". It's very innovative and quaint. The character is very charming and something I think many kids will enjoy. The graphics and artwork are pretty great as well. The app is very patient and easy for children to use. The choice of 'A words' words were selected well and are quite understanding for children new to reading. It also helps them to find confidence in their spelling skills. I think the QWERTY layout is forward thinking as it introduces children to computing keyboards.
Improvements I would like to see more versions for the other vowels in the future and maybe they could each feature a different scenery to keep things innovative but other than this app has just exceeded my expectations in every category and there's nothing more I could ask for.
General review Delightful app. It has a fun name and a charming character both of which children would like, it's also very simple to use. The graphics/artwork are great and there's a pretty good selection of words. I also like the choices of keyboard layouts and I'm really looking forward to future apps by this developer.

Score Screator for iPad v.2.2 [text]

Link to the App Store

What I liked I like the icon, it's very creative. The "note keyboard" is something I've not seen before and it works wonderfully, it's new and unique and very easy to pick up on the longer you use it. I like the range of music notes it has as well as the number of instruments it supports. I like being able to add lyrics as well. I also enjoy the simplicity of importing and exporting songs.
Improvements The graphics are pretty basic and in some ways I enjoy that but sometimes it's nice to see a little bit of color. Maybe an aged light brownish color in addition to the white. Other than that there's isn't anything I can think of that could need improving.
General review Wonderful score creator, great for songwriting. There's a decent range of music notes and instruments the app supports. It's speedy and enjoyable to use. The note keyboard makes things much simpler and is really unique. Importing and exporting songs has never been easier.

iTooch Math Grade 5 [text]

Link to the App Store

What I liked I like the progress chart, it makes it very easy to track the improvements made. I also like the design of the background within the app, it looks like a chalkboard in a classroom which creates a familiar learning atmosphere. The questions are well laid out so it's easy for children to understand. The achievements have been a very useful incentive for learning, some children see this something to work towards in a fun way.
Improvements I did experience a crash of the app after completing a chapter so I would like to see that fixed. I would also like to see the app support more than one user, it's hard to see who did what and to track what they've learned when there are more than one child using the app on one device.
General review An intricate educational app with a design that creates a learning atmosphere. It's very easy to track the improvement made by a child. The game center achievements are popular with children, it makes using the app seem like more fun to them. There are many questions and chapters so it will last quite a while which is very good value.

Tic Toc Time: Break down the day to learn how to tell time [text]

Link to the App Store

What I liked I think it's fantastic that my younger siblings love this app, they actually think it's just a game. It's a very unique way familiarize children with time and clocks. I like having the option of choosing between the A/M and 24 hour mode settings. The graphics and illustrations are really nice too, they make the app a lot of fun. One of the things I like the most is being able to create multiple profiles for each of my siblings, not many apps have this option. I was surprised by addition of the compass but I think that is also a very useful tool and can be a very valuable skill to know.
Improvements I've been using the app for 10 days now and I think this app has fulfilled it's objective in helping children to learn how to tell time. I also think that it's the only app of this kind that I'd need with my siblings at this age so I'm at a loss of what can really be improved.
General review It's an astonishing app and I'm really amazed at the results in so short a time. There's marvelous illustrations and it's provided a very smooth and simple experience. I like the features it provides, many of which are rarely seen in similar apps and overall I think it sets the bar pretty high for the competition.

Sparky's Birthday Surprise [text]

Link to the App Store

What I liked It's a fun game with a great educational value, the fire safety skills will definitely be handy later on in life. I liked the coloring pages and the sing-along music video the most. I thought the graphics looked really nice and the animations are designed well. The name of the main character is very appropriate and charming. I also thought the story was adequately written.
Improvements On the iPad the app worked perfectly, but not so much on the iPod touch. The app constantly froze for a few seconds at a time. I do have the latest iOS so I don't think it's a compatibility issue. I'd like to see that fixed because I don't always have my iPad available. Apart from that everything else was pretty much satisfactory.
General review It's a very stimulating and informative app for children. The safety skills included will greatly benefit them as they grow older. The story is detailed and well written, it also has a delightful character. The graphics and animations are beautifully designed. There's plenty of fun features too. It would be nice to see an update for the newest iOS.

Math Mathews : Mental Math 1.0 [text]

Link to the App Store

What I liked The design looks attractive and the graphics are pleasant. The game is quite alluring and entertaining and I think that it really helps to improve their math skills. I found the difficulty settings very helpful as the game remains challenging for multiple children from different age groups. Another feature I liked was being able to have up to 10 players registered and seeing their progress report at the end.
Improvements I don't see the children completing or losing interest in the app for a little while but I would like to see some more levels added eventually. Apart from that I can't really find anything else that could be improved just yet. Perhaps in the future I'll notice something.
General review A pleasant game for children. The graphics are attractive, the app has a wonderful educational value and it allows you to track the progress made by them. It also allows more than one child to play at a time and because of the difficulty settings it's not just limited to a certain age group.

Jack and the Beanstalk a Mathematical Adventure - HD V1.1 [text]

Link to the App Store

What I liked I particularly enjoyed this app because I thought it was a splendid way to introduce my siblings to a traditional children's story that I grew up reading: "Jack and the Beanstalk". Another thing I like was that the app isn't limited to one subject so there's a number of things for them to learn while enjoying a good story.
Improvements The artwork was a little basic but in some ways I sort of admired that. However, I would love to see some fine tuning in that area and perhaps some animations to keep the young ones interested. I'd also like to see some more traditional children's stories added such as Snow White.
General review A magnificent children's app. I love the classic story and how it had a happy ending. I also like how there are multiple topics for children to learn from. The artwork/illustrations were very quaint and simple but I'd like to see them polished a little someday.

A Day in the Zoo - 1.0.1 [text]

Link to the App Store

What I liked The first thing I noticed was how amazing the graphics were, someone obviously went to great lengths to create the artwork and it's totally worth it. There was a lot of laughter when using this app, we all loved how silly it is and the sounds were amazing as was the quality of them. I also liked the lack of ads and in-game purchases which can be quite common in apps like this.
Improvements I'd really like to see some more animals added soon and I think it would be nice to have a world map sort of thing where you can select a certain country and see animals native to it, for example, Kangaroos in Australia and Polar bears in Antarctica.
General review Perfect app for children just coming into their learning phase. The graphics/artwork are just exquisite and the animal sounds are humorous and great quality. The app provides much needed laughter when children are at this stage. The app is child safe as there are no ads which is fantastic. One day in the future it would be great to have some more animals added.

Monsieur Bear's ABC [text]

Link to the App Store

What I liked The drawings are fantastic and look like they've had a lot of hard work and care gone into them. The animations also look great and they preform quite well also really liked the selection of words accompanying each letter. The bear character is adorable and I think kids will love him/her. The sound effects are a nice perk as well. Another thing I liked was having the choice of languages can be very useful for when you go on holiday or to introduce them to a new language.
Improvements What I'd like to see improved? It's a tough question because I feel like the app already has so much to offer. I suppose there could be a few more languages added and I hope in the future the app will continue to update it's theme for each holiday because I loved the Christmas decorations in this version.
General review It's a quaint but modern children's book with real care gone into creating the illustrations and designing the animations both of which look fantastic. With added sound effects it makes the app entertaining too. I really liked the selection of words accompanying the letters of the alphabet and the choice of languages can be a very useful feature.

PassPro: Anatomy & Physiology Level 3 (v2.0) [text]

Link to the App Store

What I liked I liked how authentic the experience felt when taking the test(s). It certainly helps to prepare you for test conditions when the time comes. I also like being able to customize the tests and their environments to my particular areas of study and having a detailed feedback result. Another aspect I found useful was not having to be connected to the internet when taking a test because I was easily distracted by outside notifications.
Improvements While I feel it was well worth the money, some of my friends to whom I recommended the app to were put off by the price so I would suggest lowering it a little. Other than that there isn't really anything else I could have asked for but if I will keep an eye out for future improvement opportunities.
General review Very detailed tests, questions and feedback results. It's customizable to suit most individuals needs. The experience felt authentic and it'll help prepare you for the real thing. One of the things I liked most was not having to connect to the net to access the app's content. The price can be a little steep for some people but it's worth paying for what you get in return.

Plume's School - Saving Christmas [text]

Link to the App Store

What I liked I really liked the different levels and how they progressed, It's a very effective method and I've already begun to notice improvement in their vocabulary and memory. It's a nice app to get around Christmas time and has certainly had a positive impact on both their education and their entertainment. The pictures were of good quality and I didn't encounter any problems within the app.
Improvements As with a few other Christmas themed apps I've tried, I would really liked to see this app with some other holiday themes such as Halloween and Easter. I think it would be a really good way to introduce them to certain holidays and teach them words and images from them.
General review Lovely app for children. It has a immense educational value and at the same time provides festive fun. The method the app uses is very effective and you can see results in only a short time. I feel the app is child friendly and because I didn't encounter any problems I would feel very secure in letting them use it.

Christmas Karaoke App: 12 Carols [text]

Link to the App Store

What I liked It's a wonderful way to spend time with your family at Christmas. I liked the variety of traditional songs to choose from and one of the features I found particularly great was being able to choose between singing along with the vocals or just using your own because a lot of Karaoke apps do not have this ability. The changeable backgrounds look very Christmassy and the quality of the graphics and music were spectacular.
Improvements Whilst I valued and enjoyed the variety of songs to choose from I would like to see some more added such as Let It Snow which is a favorite of mine and my family's. It would also be nice to have apps like this for other holidays like Halloween or Easter.
General review A wonderful activity to do with your family at Christmas. The backgrounds are very festive and look high quality as is the quality of the music. There's a nice selection of traditional songs to utilize and having the ability to sing along with vocals or without them is a rare feature not seen much which I found very worthwhile.

Meet Science: Magnetism and Electricity (v1.0.1) [text]

Link to the App Store

What I liked It's based on a wonderful topic that isn't covered much on most educational apps and I must say I'm quite impressed with the colorful graphics. The app has a nice interface that's very child friendly, it's also explained really well and it detailed stages which make it easier to understand. The fun and interactive games makes processing the information learned less of a hardship.
Improvements I didn't have encounter any issues whilst using it and I actually don't think that there's anything to improve. The developers really took their time and made a well designed app with everything working as it should. If there's anything I would wish for, it would be more of the same and perhaps in different subjects.
General review Well designed app with colorful, high quality graphics. It's interactive, the user interface is child friendly and easy to pick up on. The topic is a very brilliant one that you don't see much of elsewhere. I'm impressed with the high quality, colorful graphics as well. It balances education and entertainment quite well and that makes it engaging and allows the information to really be absorbed.

PicoToons Coloring Book (v1.0.1) [text]

Link to the App Store

What I liked My little brother loves to draw and color and since we can't always bring along his art set wherever we go this app seemed like the next best thing. I like the option of having multiple tools because each drawing feels like it needs a certain one and I really enjoyed seeing the different categories to choose from. The colors are vivid as well. I think the child safety features are wonderful too.
Improvements I'd like to see some more categories besides the first five and perhaps some holiday and family movie themed options that also come with the same themed stickers. Other than those requests I can't really see anything else that I would wish for right now.
General review It's a nice app for children that allows them to bring their creativity along with them wherever they go, there are some great child safety features that would make any parent feel secure. The illustrations are of excellent quality and the colors are vivid. There are a decent amount of categories to choose from so most children can find something they like. Having the option of different tools also keeps things fresh and more personal.

Sailing Home – Learn Animal Habitats.Version 1.0 [text]

Link to the App Store

What I liked I'm planning on taking a cruise soon and I think this app will really help adjust and encourage young children to get into the mindset to go. I like the whole sailing theme as it hasn't been done much and the graphics are really pleasing to the eyes. I also liked the characters and the variety of them. The little facts were interesting and informative and I thought the games were very fun to watch. The child safety features are common in most apps like this but I'm still glad to have them.
Improvements Ideally it would be brilliant to have different versions for each of the continents including the animals native to them. I think it would be a great way to teach or introduce them to the worlds animals and maybe it's geography. I'd very much like to see some more mini games in the future as well.
General review Very well designed app with beautiful graphics and loveable characters. I think a lot of detail went into making the games as well. The information was valuable in my opinion and I too found it really interesting. Aside from that there are also some enjoyable games to take part in. It's excellent for parents who want to feel secure thanks to the safety features and I look forward to future updates and games.

ZyroSky [text]

Link to the App Store

What I liked It's been a while since I've been attached to a running game so it's nice to have found something new. I haven't seen this concept before either so it's also a new experience. The graphics were great and the colors rich. The controls were pretty simple as well. I like the customizable options too.
Improvements I'd like to see some more characters added and maybe some new themes or background settings. It would also be nice to have the option to have upgrades and in-game advantages to keep things fresh after having played a while. I think the price of the initial purchase could be lowered slightly as well.
General review It's a lot of fun to play, doesn't take much effort in way of controls which lets you focus more on the game which is quite original. The graphics are attractive and being able to customize certain aspects gives you a feeling of more control. It would be lovely to see some more customizable options in the future regarding themes and characters also.
