The Ant and the Grasshopper v1.1 [text]

Link to the App Store

Rating
What I liked The artwork is beautiful--very appealing to children. The interactivity not only encourages active participation, but rewards that participation before moving on to the next page. The movement of objects ties into the storyline and rewards comprehension of the plot. This reader can choose to listen to the story which is a great option for younger children or those that struggle with reading. The pop up pages will delight children--such a nice surprise!
Improvements I would love to see participation on each page. Even if it was simple movement of objects, it would enhance the overall appeal of the book. Some form of comprehension check would make this book's value rise above sheer entertainment and raise its education value.
General review This book is worth purchasing--it is a story that can be heard or read over and over again. Children ages 2 and older will enjoy moving the objects in the story and watching the reactions of the characters. It is highly entertaining, engaging, and captivating.

flippi memo v1.0 [text]

Link to the App Store

Rating
What I liked Beautifully illustrated and easy to play, this version of a memory game is great for non-readers. An unlimited number of players can participate. There is no time limit, so a child can play for an unlimited amount of time. There are no distractions, so parents can allow play without fear of seeing inappropriate content.
Improvements I would like to see a different form of feedback for incorrect matches; the simple jump of pictures may not be enough positive feedback for correct matches. I would rather see pictures automatically flip over if incorrect. I think it is always helpful to have a note directed to parents/teachers regarding the goal of the app that also gives direction.
General review If you are looking for a simple memory game, with little feedback or motivation to find matches, then this game is for you. Teaching your child to find the correct match would be difficult in this version: cards remain flipped up even when they don't match. Beautiful illustrations, easy to play. Very little feedback for correct match. I would not be interested in purchasing this app as a parent or educator.

What I liked I love the ease in use of this app--its targeted audience will find it not only easy to play, but entertaining as well. A parent may naturally think this is a girl's game, but there are characters that will be appealing to boys. The puzzles vary in difficulty, so this game will engage a range of ages. The rewards for nesting the dolls correctly are entertaining as well--a different object with each doll. This app is worth the cost.
Improvements I hope the developers will include new nesting dolls in upcoming updates. I think toddlers will be able to master each of the nesting dolls presented in the original app--and enjoy every minute of it--but be ready for new challenges. I would not change anything in this app.
General review This game is perfect for its intended audience--it is interactive, entertaining, engaging, rewarding, and fun. Children ages 5 and under will appreciate the humor in the rewards for each nesting doll--rewards that are specific to each nesting doll. The colors are vibrant and appealing. This app is a winner!

He is Risen, An Easter Story [text]

Rating
What I liked This picture book has great illustrations. The accommodations for reading levels are thought out and delivered appropriately. A child can choose to have the story read aloud (with words highlighted as read), can read to him/herself and tap words to be read aloud, or read silently without narration or pop ups. Options include setting the reading pace, the background music and sound levels. The Family Chat discussion at the end of the story is a nice touch for adding family discussion of the story. I personally appreciate the addition of Scripture references in the Advanced Mode.
Improvements The only improvements I can recommend are 1) more interactions on the part of the reader (ex: tap the stone to roll it away from the opening of the tomb or tap on a character in the story to hear what they said) and 2) a definition of the word that is tapped by the reader. The story may be too long for young learners (based on the 4+ rating), but the developers addressed that by allowing the reader to choose the page to open the story at a later time.
General review This app should appeal to a broad range of ages. Not only can the story be read aloud, the reader can choose to read silently without interruption. The illustrations are nice, as is the ability to explore Scriptural references if desired. The activities are fun and leveled so that a variety of skills are addressed.

Fractions+ [text]

Link to the App Store

Rating
What I liked This app is hard to close--it is very entertaining and educational at the same time. The progression of skills was well thought-out. The reward for completing the task is well worth the work--as a player, you are willing to do whatever it takes to play the game, beat the clock and move on to the next level. I am impressed with the number of levels included in the app--I'm at level 28 and still haven't reached the end. The graphics are great and the intent to instruct about fractions and their equivalencies exceeds all expectations. This app is worth the cost and then some.
Improvements A bit more direction in the game area would be helpful--it is somewhat difficult to follow as the player progresses through the levels. That is a minor improvement overall, though. This app was well-planned and executed. I look forward to seeing more from this developer.
General review Fractions+ is the most fun I've had with math in a long time. It doesn't take long to work through the fraction identification before you can play the game. It starts at a basic level, identifying 1/2 of a geometric object and progresses to equivalent fractions--in metric and standard form. It is highly engaging while teaching the player. This app is a steal!

Simply Missy:Shopping Adventure [text]

Link to the App Store

Rating
What I liked This app is colorful with cute graphics. It is entertaining. I can see preschool girls having fun moving Missy through the rooms and earning gems as they go. Changing Missy's clothes as the player progresses through the game will be engaging for some.
Improvements I would like to see more direction--either audio, to be self-learning--or written, so parents can be involved with their child. If this app will be advertised as being for both boys and girls, there should be something more entertaining for boys than shopping and dressing Missy in different outfits. Shooting hoops is not enough.
General review This app did not appeal to me. I failed to see the goal in playing with this app, except for the entertainment value, which was very low, in my opinion. It is colorful and cute, but I believe there are better apps out there that provide more value for your money.

Animal Planet Hide & Seek Pets [text]

Link to the App Store

Rating
What I liked This app is entertaining and educational. There are many choices for preschoolers to make; they will enjoy every choice they make. The player learns several fun facts about common pets; once they hear these facts, they can choose from several activities that correlate with that pet.
Improvements I hope that updates to this app will include more pets in order to keep this app interesting to the player. There is nothing I would change about this app. The developer did a great job of making this app appealing to preschoolers, parents and teachers.
General review This a great opportunity for preschoolers to learn about pets they could have. It is colorful, uses photographs of the pets, offers choices for activities (with the ability to save their work on some), and is very engaging for the player. The option to listen to the text makes this app appealing to a wide variety of ages.

Wubbzy's Animal Coloring Book [text]

Link to the App Store

Rating
What I liked I appreciate the fact that shading can be accomplished with the chalk and brush applications. I also liked the fact that my coloring stayed within the lines as I used the brush and chalk, as well as the eraser. There are many choices for pages, colors, and stickers. The tutorial was very helpful at the beginning. Magnification of the coloring page is helpful as well.
Improvements It would be nice if the player could rotate the stickers once they are placed on the page. It would also be nice to have some type of audio with the coloring as well. Hopefully, updates to this app will include more coloring pages. Overall, though, this developer does a nice job creating appealing apps for young children.
General review This coloring book app offers many options for the young artist-multiple pages to color within the lines, varying degrees of difficulty within that variety of pages, various tools to use for coloring, a wide array of colors, and a page that offers free drawing. This app should keep young children who enjoy coloring occupied for a long time. It is well worth the price.

The Miracles of Jesus [text]

Link to the App Store

Rating
What I liked Another great app by the NEST developers. Nice illustrations compliment the stories of Jesus' miracles. Activities are included as well. The questions at the end of the story are great discussion starters for families. Young learners will be engaged many times over as they read or listen to the story.
Improvements I would like to see more interactivity for the reader on the individual pages of the story. The images on each page change at least once, but it would be nice if the reader could manipulate characters as the story unfolds. All other aspects of this app are more than adequate.
General review Young readers will find this app to be very appealing. The illustrations are colorful and vivid. The effort to reach readers at various levels is appreciated. There are plenty of activities to complete that relate to the story. Even though this app is not as interactive as it could be, it will still engage the reader many times over.

Live Puzzle! Forest Animals [text]

Link to the App Store

Rating
What I liked The puzzles are colorful, animated, and fun. The player will enjoy seeing the completed scene once the puzzle is completed. The varied levels differ in the number of pieces per puzzle. This variation broadens the appeal of the game, allowing many hours of fun!
Improvements It would be nice if each level contained different scenes from the previous level. Even though this creates a sense of familiarity for the young player, it would create more of a challenge for the older player as they move through the puzzles levels.
General review This app is well worth the download--great graphics. The fact that the animation is contained within the puzzle pieces makes the puzzle quite intriguing and somewhat challenging as the player moves through the levels of difficulty. This app will appeal to all ages, not just children!

Talking Duke 1 4.3 [text]

Link to the App Store

Rating
What I liked It is fun to poke the puppy to see what his reaction will be. The playback of your voice is also entertaining, for awhile, but not for long. There is not much here to hold your interest for long. The graphics are nice, but the constant freezing of the animation kills that feature quickly.
Improvements Get rid of the ads! I had a difficult time starting the game because of all of the pop-ups. The game kept freezing, going to a blank screen, and popping up with ads before I could get involved, Whenever I pressed the i for information, I only saw a blank screen.
General review There are too many pop ups to make this app much fun for a young child-the play is interrupted too frequently. It is entertaining for a short time as you tap on the dog's various body parts, but that amusement dies all too quickly. It's a good thing it's free--there's not much content here.

The Amazing Digestive Journey [text]

Link to the App Store

Rating
What I liked This app has great graphics and is very interactive. The developer has also added a bilingual feature-text can be read in both English and Spanish. The tests for the digestive system are varied in difficulty-easy and hard. The handy wall chart makes for a great learning tool before taking the test.
Improvements Directions would be necessary to improve on the overall rating. I had to tap on everything in sight to try to progress through the game. By the time I made progress, I wasn't sure what I did to progress. I even had my 20 year old daughter stumble around in the game and she had difficulty as well. The game is not as intuitive as the developer might have believed. Also, I muted the music initially, but it began to play as I tapped various elements in the game. When I returned to settings, the icon indicated that the music was still muted; this happened repeatedly. Very annoying.
General review This app has potential, but needs a help screen or directions to be of any value. It's a great concept-I think elementary students would benefit from this game if they knew what to do upon opening the app. I would rate higher if I knew how to progress through the game.

Wubbzy and The Princess [text]

Link to the App Store

Rating
What I liked This app should keep young readers engaged over a long period of time. Great animations, optional activities with core standard tie ins, and choices in reading the book will keep families coming back to this app again and again. This app is well worth the price.
Improvements The stickers can be resized, but it would be nice if they could be manipulatd even further by turning. Hopefully, future updates will include additional coloring pages. These are minor improvements to a great app; there is not much to ask for in addition to the great features already included.
General review This app provides plenty of opportunities for preschoolers and beginning readers to explore each page of the book by tapping and enabling multiple animations. The choices between oral and silent reading, animations or non-animations are more than adequate. The additional activities with common core standards tie-ins makes this appealing to parent and educators. Great value for the money!

Magical Music Box v1.15 [text]

Link to the App Store

Rating
What I liked This app presents music in a sweet tone that is easy to operate for a child. The music box sound is rendered beautifully, with a tone that reflects a music box quite well. It is very easy to operate, with a simple circular motion. The use of a timer is possible, so that the player does not have to continually make circles on the screen with their finger.
Improvements Hopefully, updates will include additional songs, with their lyrics. Some type of interactivity with the songs as the music plays would be a nice touch as well. As it stands, this app might be used simply as a means to play lullabies to aid in a young child falling asleep.
General review I really enjoyed this app for what it is designed to do-play songs with a music box theme. It is very easy to operate and provides a variety of songs from which to choose. A timer is provided so that the child does not have to stay tied down to the device to listen to music. The random shuffle and repeat buttons also allow finger-free operation per set. The illustrations are attractive. Nicely done!

Wubbzy's 123 Learn & Play [text]

Link to the App Store

Rating
What I liked Great tutorial and help options make this easy for adults to guide their young children through the numerous activities in this fun and beautiful app. Interaction abounds to keep preschoolers entertained while learning how to count. The videos are colorful and fun. The games allow for various levels of learner to interact according to their ability level.
Improvements I can't wait to see the next level of counting from 11-20 to be released. It would be nice if the stickers in the coloring area could be resized once placed on the coloring page. There is very little to improve upon in this app, as is typical with this developer. Great job!
General review This app should keep preschool aged children entertained for a long time. There are differentiations within each activity to keep children of varied ages occupied and content to open this app. Adults will be happy to allow their children to use this app since counting is woven into the activities in such way that children will be learning without knowing they are learning! This app is worth every penny spent to purchase.

Good Night Wubbzy Bedtime Counting [text]

Link to the App Store

Rating
What I liked The interactivity in this story is sure to keep young children locked into this app. Not only are they encouraged to count, but also to tap all kinds of objects to be surprised by animations and sounds. Counting is even incorporated through the alarm clock that appears in each frame of the story. Hints appear in each frame so that the player doesn't have to worry about missing a hidden animation. The developers didn't miss a beat in finding ways to make the most of every frame. The reader can choose to have the story read aloud, to read silently with or without the animations.
Improvements There are no improvements that I can imagine for this app. The developers have done a wonderful job creating a bedtime story that will entertain and educate. The only improvement that could possibly be mentioned is the ability to resize the stickers as they are added to a coloring page. I think it might be hard to put a child down to bed with this app open--it's so much fun!
General review This is a wonderful app for young children that could easily turn into a favorite bedtime ritual. The animations are entertaining, the story is cute and contains counting on every frame. Parents and teachers are connected to the Common Core State Standards, so they know their children are doing more than just playing a game. Videos and coloring pages are available, as well as games. Wonderful work!

Fraggle Rock Game Day [text]

Link to the App Store

Rating
What I liked There are multiple ways to enjoy this story: read with narration and interactivity, read to self with interactivity, and read without narration or interactivity. There are cues for interacting as the story is read. Cues guide the player with the interactions.
Improvements As is the case with other Cupcake Digital apps, there is very little improvement desired. The developers do a great job of making their apps appealing to their targeted audience--both parents and children. The included help pages are more than adequate to guide parents in full use of all the options available in the app.
General review Great job tying in common core curriculum with the variety of activities that support the story whether it's math or language arts. Coloring pages are included as an activity with the option to save the colored picture to the camera roll. The story has a lesson with questions available at the end for discussion. This is a great app for preschoolers and is worth the money spent to purchase.

Spellyfish - Short A Words (v1.0.0) [text]

Link to the App Store

Rating
What I liked As a teacher, I appreciate the ability to individualize settings per user, such as volume, times required to master a word, and keyboard layouts. This app also contains a great tips section, with vocabulary definitions as well as information regarding features within the game. Great visual as well as auditory reinforcement during practice.
Improvements The developers did a great job of individualizing the learning process in this app. I cannot think of any way to improve on it. I hope they develop apps for other word families. This app provides a great practice tool for students which could easily be used in a center in the classroom or as homework once the word family has been introduced in the classroom setting.
General review Not only are players asked to spell a word that is stated, that word is also used contextually to aid in identification. The word is sounded out as the player taps letters on the keyboard. There is opportunity to self-correct when a word is misspelled. The student doesn't have to wait for the context clue to spell the word which allows for self-pacing.Players do not have to follow the order of lists;s/he can choose which list of words to work on.

Tic Toc Time: Break down the day to learn how to tell time [text]

Link to the App Store

Rating
What I liked I like this unique approach to teaching time. It makes sense. I appreciate that the hands on the clock are color coded with the numbers on the digital clock. Also, the difficult concept of the small hand moving as the big hand moves around the clock is appropriately taught. I appreciate the ability to repeat the question during the lesson.
Improvements This game is quite lengthy--even though the developer has done a great job covering the subject matter. It is nice that the child can resume play; is it possible that the child's play would resume right where s/he left off, without trying to remember where they were in the game? It would be nice if the rewards varied as the game progressed.
General review This is an interesting approach to teaching children how to tell time by starting with a compass, the movement of the sun during the day and of the earth from the perspective of space, to an explanation of the clock. Then meanings of the hands on the clock are shared. The Green Academy at the end of lesson is a great reward, not only with great graphics and photos, but appropriate steps in gardening as well.

Sparky's Birthday Surprise [text]

Link to the App Store

Rating
What I liked It is hard to find something not to like about this app. I love the way the developer embedded fire safety tips into the story. As with other Cupcake Digital apps, there is plenty of interactivity that endears the app to young players. The coloring activities keep players coming back for more.
Improvements It is difficult to find anything to improve upon as is the case with other Cupcake Digital apps. The story may have been a bit on the long side, but was engaging throughout. There is plenty of interactivity throughout the story that include hints. Keep up the good work!
General review This is a wonderful, interactive app for young children that does a great job instructing the player about fire safety. The tips from Sparky have been heard before, but the presentation keeps it fresh and rewarding for the player to continue through the story.

Math Mathews : Mental Math 1.0 [text]

Link to the App Store

Rating
What I liked This is definitely a fun way to practice addition and subtraction. The game is entertaining and certainly hooks the player into trying more problems in order to continue through the game. The player can choose the level of difficulty with the math problems which will keep many students engaged.
Improvements I think the game takes away fromn the math practice--too much emphasis on the game and the story revolving around the game. The game seems to be the focal point. There are too many characters in the story and not enough math practice. The game seems to go on too long.
General review I can see how the game in this app could draw students in, but I don't think there is enough there to keep the student playing. It would be better if the player could progress through the game at a quicker pace by answering groups of math problems more frequently. The graphics are great and the concept is good, but needs more math content and less story.

Jack and the Beanstalk a Mathematical Adventure - HD V1.1 [text]

Link to the App Store

Rating
What I liked What a fun and entertaining way to interact with the fable, Jack and the Beanstalk. This app offers a variety of ways to practice math skills, from counting to basic operations, estimation, and identification of polygons. It is colorful and interactive.
Improvements One improvement might be animations on the pages of the story that do not offer mathematics skills. Also, highlighting the words as they are read in the story would be helpful for those who are not strong readers. For those players who are strong readers, the ability to turn the narration off would be appreciated.
General review This is a great app to review a favorite story and math skills all at once. The ability to correct wrong answers is a great reinforcement for the skills being reviewed. The graphics are nice and should be attractive to the player. The math skills involved require the player to be at least 8 years of age.

A Day in the Zoo - 1.0.1 [text]

Link to the App Store

Rating
What I liked This app is colorful and full of animations. The read aloud option is a plus for parents who tire of reading the same story over and over again. There are many options in the settings for enabling various options, such as music, voice read along, sound effects.
Improvements There are a few grammatical errors that should be corrected. I hope future versions will include updates for more animals and interactions for the child. Some of the movements required of the child may reflect fine motor skills that are not age appropriate.
General review This app would be entertaining for its targeted audience. It is colorful and interactive. The music and tone of the voice are appropriate. There are plenty of animations to entertain a young child. The actions that imitate the various animals are also cute and fun for a young child to produce.

Learn ABC Phonics v1.1 [text]

Link to the App Store

Rating
What I liked What a nice way to introduce two year olds to letter recognition and formation. It is colorful and engaging; the learner is reinforced for his/her efforts with a giggle, balloons, and a smiling character who waves them on to the next letter. The child can pick any letter to listen to the name of the letter and pronunciation. I have a problem with the way the consonants are pronounced, but overall, the app is worth the price.
Improvements As a teacher with a reading and Special Education minor, I ask that the developer change the pronunciation of consonants so that a vowel sound is not added at the end. Example: the letter d does not make the sound 'duh'. That is the way you pronounce 'du'. When children learn to sound out words, they actually try to make that /u/ sound after the /d/, which distorts the actual words they are trying to sound out. I have spent a lot of time correcting this habit in my classroom, which is not easy to break after 5-6 years of practice! Is it possible to add the long sounds to the vowels as well?
General review Cute app--very age appropriate for two year olds. The parental tips are excellent-- ideas are shared regarding different ways the order of the letters can be introduced to their child. It is colorful and interactive. A correction sound is made if the child does not trace the letter correctly. Nice job making reading enjoyable for young children.

Monsieur Bear's ABC [text]

Link to the App Store

Rating
What I liked This is an entertaining and whimsical app for pre-schoolers as they practice letter recognition. The animations are captivating and fun. The developer offers multiple opportunities for the learner to hear and read words with the same beginning sound.
Improvements A page following each letter with 3-4 choices for the learner to select the word that begins with the previously highlighted letter would add a level of learning to this app. Otherwise, this app offers great practice for its targeted age group to learn letters and their sounds.
General review This app is well worth downloading. The animations are cute, there are numerous repetitions of each sound, and the learner should stay engaged as they tap the screen and watch the various actions. Each letter's activity ends with a sentence using multiple words with that beginning sound. Again, plenty of repetition for young learners. Great job!

Simplex Spelling Phonics - Rhyming With CVC Words (v 2.0.0) [text]

Link to the App Store

Rating
What I liked Very thorough practice of the spelling of c-v-c words is covered int his app. The student has ample opportunity to practice spelling words that are dictated. The adult can choose which word families to practice, as well as which lessons to practice within that word family.
Improvements A reward of some sort would be nice after practicing the spelling of the word family. The encouraging words are nice, but something else may be needed to keep the student engaged. Stickers, tally marks or a game may prompt the student to do their best.
General review This is a great way to practice 3-letter words. The student hears the word spoken, used in context, and then sounded out sound by sound after spelling the word. The speaker in the app enunciates the words clearly. A progress report can be created and emailed that lists the student's progress. Overall, this is a great way for a student to practice spelling!

Hide & Seek: Fun With Animals (v1) [text]

Link to the App Store

Rating
What I liked This is the perfect app for children ages 1-3. They will be thoroughly entertained by the characters in this app as they attempt to find the characters as they hide. The graphics are colorful. There is plenty of interaction that will keep the player engaged and coming back for more,
Improvements It would be great to see more scenes added in updates for the player to continue this hide and seek adventure. An introduction to the characters might be helpful as well before starting the game, so the player connects the name that is stated with the image of the character. Also, as the character to search for is announced, maybe the image on the left could be highlighted as a visual cue for the player.
General review This is a wonderful app for toddlers as they learn how to interact with apps. Learning the language while finding cute characters that are hiding is a great way to keep the young player coming back for more. It is colorful and entertaining. the developer did a great job creating an engaging game for young learners.

The Reading Train: A Common Core Early Literacy Tutor Version 1.0.3 [text]

Link to the App Store

Rating
What I liked What a great app for learning vocabulary--alphabetically or by category. The books are categorized by reading level. The learner has a choice in listening to, reading alone, or recording themselves reading the book. There are multiple books to purchase as well. This app even contains songs that can be listened to or recorded as the learner sings along with a purchase.
Improvements Future versions in other languages would be helpful to those using this app to learn the English language. The developer has done a great job incorporating multiple senses to learn the vocabulary. The speaker's voice is clear and free from dialect. There is not much to wish for!
General review The developer has done a great job with presenting a multi-modal app for reading. There are plenty of activities to do for free; these free books and songs should encourage purchase of additional books and songs, as they are well done. This app would be beneficial to English language learners as well. Assessments and student reports are available to aid in monitoring progress.

Kilubu : Magic Potions 1.0.1 [text]

Link to the App Store

Rating
What I liked It is fun to create potions with Sacha, but I'm not quite sure what the point it is. This app has great graphics and interactivity, but very few directions. Hopefully, it is intuitive for its intended audience. There is the mystery of creating potions, but I'm not sure if it's engaging enough to stick with.
Improvements Some directions for the parent/teacher would be great. The parents' section didn't give much information. I am unable to see the educaitonal value in this app; apparently, the goal is to create potions for Sacha and see what happens to him when he drinks the concoction created by the player. I question the value of this app.
General review It is entertaining to see what happens to Sacha as a result of the player's mixture of exotic ingredients, but I doubt I would pay for this app. The developer did a great job with the interactivity and graphics. Hopefully, it is more appealing to its intended audience that it was to me.

Meet Science: Magnetism and Electricity (v1.0.1) [text]

Link to the App Store

Rating
What I liked Great graphics are displayed that illustrate what is being read aloud on each screen. There is a quick self-correcting quiz that follows the instruction and is effective in checking for understanding. Experiments follow the quiz that are high quality videos. A glossary and games are part of the package as well.
Improvements Some type of feedback for a parent or teacher in regards to the quizzes would be a nice feature. Other than that, this app is superb and would be useful in the classroom or at home as review of lessons taught in the classroom. This is one of the best apps I've seen in this program.
General review This app is well worth the money to help students learn about electricity and magnets. The graphics, videos, quizzes, and games are high quality, engaging, entertaining, and informative. The narrator is very easy to listen to. Some type of recording of results of the quiz would be helpful. Other than that, this app should be the perfect follow up to instruction in the science classroom.

Word Creativity Kit - Play with the language [text]

Link to the App Store

Rating
What I liked This app is fun to use for creative writing on the iPad. It is easy to use and offers several themes to guide the writing. Stickers are available to enhance the pages in the book, as well as a variety of backgrounds. I appreciate the selection of vocabulary per theme.
Improvements It would be helpful to be able to duplicate words that are created on a page, instead of retyping those words. Is it possible to delete a word from the page? Having punctuation marks available with the words might encourage users to actually use those marks in their writing. A connection to learning objectives would be helpful for the classroom teacher.
General review I think this is a wonderful way to encourage students to write; the vocabulary offers plenty of avenues for the writer to take without guiding the thought processes too much. Some of the methods for changing options on the page of the book can be somewhat cumbersome, but not so much that I wouldn't use this app. I think it's a great investment for developing future writers!

PicoToons Coloring Book (v1.0.1) [text]

Link to the App Store

Rating
What I liked What a great app to introduce children to a true drawing program. This is much more than a coloring book: it offers sticker and fill tools that do much more than simply add a sticker or fill an area with color. The magic particles tool adds different kinds of shapes to the drawing. This app is multi-leveled by drawing tools that are available to the user, so it could easily have a long life for your child!
Improvements In all honesty, I cannot find any area to improve in this app. It is easy to use, is leveled for use by multi-ability users, and allows creations to be saved to the camera roll of the iPad. The addition of coloring books would be a nice feature to add to this app.
General review This app will put other drawing apps to shame, so if you choose to purchase, you won't be disappointed, and may find other drawing apps unable to come close. Your student/child should be entertained for a long time with the multiple levels of engagement.
