Find them all: looking for animals [text]

Link to the App Store

What I liked I loved the real animal pictures that popped up when an animal was found. The multi-language dial was great! It was also helpful to have the animal noise as a cue when searching for an animal. Great scenes and love that you can travel to so many places.
Improvements The speakers English voice was very annoying, would prefer a change. It seems to be very pricy for each additional continent at 1.99. I would rather have this be the lite version and pay a flat fee for the full version to unlock all areas at once. Only farm animals for free was very limiting. I would also make the dial larger to switch languages. The target audience is younger children, and the dial should be enlarged.
General review Overall, a good app to introduce animals and finger swiping skills. I love the combination of animated with real animal sounds and pictures. Having picture cards to go back and view is a bonus. Love the language dial to hear the animal name spoken in multi languages. Expensive in-app purchases.

Cinderella : 3D Pop-up Fairy Tale v1.0 [text]

What I liked Loved this storybook app for the fairy tale lover! The interaction pages were a lot of fun, these kept the reader engaged waiting to see what would come next. I like the options to read to myself or have the story read aloud. I like the music with the story. Thank you for adding pictures even to the pages of text.
Improvements Some of the vocabulary was beyond the level of the audience for this app. Words such as wretched, pretentious, temperament should be changed. On the interaction page to help Cinderella feel better, her facial expression did not turn into a smile once she felt better. Also, at the dance, all the characters had frowns too. I would change the characters faces. How about a place for a hint on the interaction pages, they were not completely intuitive.
General review Great way to hear and follow along to a well loved fairy tale classic. Fun interactions keep your child engaged. These will also have your young reader wanting to hear this story again and again. Easy to use for young age levels, 3+, nothing scary, but good fun.

Playroom - Lessons with Max, version 1.0.1 [text]

What I liked Super cute app! I liked the colorful visuals of the app that were very appealing to my students in the Early Childhood program. Max is a cute character who offers visual and auditory feedback on each activity. I really liked the game mix feature. It randomly cycled through game activities, keeping my kids engaged as we moved from task to task.
Improvements I really liked this app, and have little on a wish list other than more of the good stuff! Perhaps more activities, moving into matching numbers with counting, shapes, or learning letters. Maybe another addition that is Max in another environment....Max at the Park, or Max at Preschool.
General review Super app for children 2-6 years old! Very engaging with fun pictures and colorful environments. Kids will not know they are learning while playing! This app supports early cognitive development through puzzles, visual matching, and memory games. The Game Mix feature takes you from one activity to the next to keep kids engaged. Really cute!

What I liked I am a huge fan of nesting doll toys for working on coordination and problem solving skills. I was naturally drawn to this app, with super graphics and a variety of themes to choose from. The music and sounds were very appealing. I liked that the lids flew to the top of the screen to stay separated from the bottom halves. My child's activity was saved right where she left off when we needed to close the app and come back later.
Improvements It was not intuitive on what you actually do. I would greatly appreciate directions/instructions for the app. It was not clear from the start, and the challenge mode worked different from the other nesting doll sets, again making me wish for more instruction. I had to play with it first in order to give my kids verbal prompts along the way.
General review I was quickly drawn to this app utilizing nesting dolls! Super graphics and 9 different scenes to choose from plus a challenge mode, makes it easy to engage children of all interests. This app helps develop perceptual skills, and is helpful for children in preschool and those older working on problem solving and perceptual skills. However, the lack of directions on what to do makes me waiting for an app update already.
