Find them all: looking for animals [text]

Link to the App Store

What I liked I liked the look and find feature and I liked the variety of animals in the various lands. I thought that the voice of the commands was pleasant and kid friendly. I thought that the photos of the animals were excellent and very realistic. I liked the graphics in the various environments and the sun that gives the commands.
Improvements I don't like the way the animals' heads are really big in the photos that pop up when you get it right and .To improve this, I believe it would be more appealing to young children if the animal's head was proportionate to its body. Also, the flashlight feature needs some fixes. It didn't work at all for me.
General review My general opinion is that it's a great learning tool for young children. It teaches them how to scroll on the iPad as they look through the environments for the animals. It teaches them many new animal names and where they live as well as revealing the true features of the animals in the photos.

Tomo House [text]

Link to the App Store

What I liked I really like the colorful pieces that are used to build each letter and I think the graphics of the objects would be quite appealing to preschoolers. The choice of everyday objects included in the app is a nice variety of use and function. They have objects from a variety of categories including around the house , school, foods and animals.
Improvements If one could move a bit faster between object building, that would be desirable. I'd like to see more foods and animals. Zoo animals in particular would be nice. It would be nice if the picture of the house included more objects as they were built as well as being more interactive and with more animation.
General review My general opinion about this app is favorable. I think young preschoolers age 3 and 4 will find it entertaining enough to play for long period of fun and continue to be entertained as they progress through the various spelling of the objects. I think that the ability to earn as many as 3 trophies will keep them motivated to move through the letters as fast as they can.

Cutie Monsters-Jigsaw Puzzles [text]

Link to the App Store

What I liked The graphics are really cute. It's easy for the kids to maneuver the pieces. I used this with two 3-year old boys and after doing one or two puzzles, they had the hang of it. They enjoyed the noises that the monsters make when the puzzles are complete.
Improvements I would like to see more monster puzzles. There are only ten and it doesn't take that long to complete all of them. There aren't very many pieces involved so I wonder if a child might start losing interest in the app after playing only a few times.
General review My overall opinion is that this is a really cute app. Kids love silly monsters and they get a kick out of the silly noises the monsters make when a puzzle is complete.. The story is cute and engaging as well as interactive. It's enjoyable to maneuver the pieces on the ipad

Animal Planet Hide & Seek Pets [text]

Link to the App Store

What I liked I love the graphics------the animals look real and make realistic sounds. Looking for the animal each time is fun, whether it is using a flashlight, or picking flowers, it's an adventure for the child. Once in the animal's habitat, there is much to learn and do.
Improvements The painting feature is a bit weak. Each time I tried to paint, I found myself trying to stroke differently using different amounts of pressure and painting with my fingers in a different way. Oftentimes, the color wouldn't show up. Couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong.
General review My general opinion about this app is that it is fantastic. It has a common core section for parents to look at and gives them questions to ask their child that taps into different kinds of critical thinking skills. While playing with the app, there are many opportunities to learn and discover interesting facts about the animals. It is a great educational app.
