What I liked Graphics attractive and not too cluttered. Layout is well thought out and easy to work. 3yo was able to pick up and play immediately without any guidance which is important to her. Content is fantastic, puzzle is sensitive enough to stop nonsense dragging but not too picky. Spot the difference is fantastic and clear, first one in an app that my 3yo has ever understood what to do. Congratulations! Love the parental controls and statistics.
Improvements Statistics to actually show number of errors. A start button at beginning of game as child couldn't figure out what to touch to start. Red arrow to change to green when game is complete/correct. Options for parents to prevent child moving onto the next game if they haven't completed the current game.
General review Absolutely fantastic app. Initially loved by child who continues to enjoy it after it has lost its "new" effect. Well thought out and laid out. Content is fantastic and includes educational games not found in other apps. Overall would thoroughly recommend and am truly grateful for having discovered it as it is the new favorite. Not since monkey preschool lunchbox have I had such a high opinion of an educational app that my child has also loved.

What I liked Love the concept and the graphics are great. Free play for younger ones is great but maybe create more obvious mini games within this. Think it's great that app opens back up to where they left off after closing it. Definitely has loads of potential, just needs a few tweaks.
Improvements 1-5yo Section seems pointless, my 3yo constantly asked 'what am I meant to do' as free play was too free and felt pointless to her. Too much writing in sections for younger age group and bottom half of older age group who are learning to read. Maybe create voiceovers that read the instructions in an adult voice to ease this issue. Also when choosing age group section my child thought the iPad was 'passing wind', maybe tweak the sound effect so it's not so flatulence like. Voiceovers and clearer objectives in the free play would definitely turn this into a 5 stars!
General review App has a fantastic concept, loads potential and is visually appealing. Just needs more refinement for the younger age group. Free play needs more structure/clearer objectives and written instructions need voice overs, these changes alone would turn this into a five star app. Voice overs in a clear adult voice would be preferable to a child voice for the younger age group whom are expanding their vocab and require clear pronunciations of words.

What I liked Fun concept and design. Attractive graphics with a unique fun twist on an old classic game. Highly addictive and competitive. Enjoyed having extra goals such as hitting fruit to earn extra points. Also liked that it doesn't force you onto the Internet to log high scores etc.
Improvements Increased app stability. App crashed on me twice with one fix being that I had to delete the app and download it which meant losing all my high scores. Increase in number of levels with different scenery and music for additional. Have the option to have one camera angle without it zooming in and out.
General review Fantastic app that is loads of fun and highly addictive. Great new twist on a classic game. Additional tasks extend the life of this game and has been thoroughly enjoyed by a range of ages in our family. Would like to see additional levels to extend the longevity of this games appeal. However for the pricing of this app I think it is definitely great value for money.

Heidi story collection - 3 in 1, Version 1.0 [text]

Link to the App Store

Rating
What I liked Fantastic storytelling. Clear and easy to understand narration in a pleasant and appealing voice. Lots of well thought out extras with some fantastic educational moments. Graphics are simple yet attractive. Great to be able to choose the different style of narration depending on the age of the child, this helps to extend the life of the app for our children.
Improvements Found initial price a bit daunting and would potentially be put off if I had no previous experience with the developer. However once downloaded app and discovered quality of App would defitinitley say price point is a non issue and will certainly look at buying more apps from this developer. Would like to be able to save language preference so don't have to select that each time. Also when playing spot the differene if a circle could remain visible for the differences you have previously selected.
General review Brilliant app, thoroughly enjoyed by my school aged, preschooler and toddler alike. Even enjoyed by parents! Extra games etc to explore are really well thought out and love the educational aspect of it for older children to explore. Brilliant to see an old classic brought to life for yet another generation.

3D Math Racing PRO - A Fun Math Facts Math Game (v1.1) [text]

Link to the App Store

Rating
What I liked Fantastic app that encourages children's to practice their Maths skills while having fun. Enjoyed by preschooler and school aged girls and can imagine boys would adore it. A sound variety of maths skills means that this app is approoriate to a large playing age group.
Great graphics and music. Realistic sound effects added to the delight of the racing child.
Child enjoyed that if you turn iPad off/exit app it starts you back mid race where you left off.
Improvements Layout felt like it needed a few tweaks. The "More Games" icon is where's logically think the start race icon should be. Same issue in the New Race section, the "Race" button should be where the "Maths Options" button is. I enjoy being able to explore developers other apps particularly a quality developer such as this one but would prefer the option to be in a corner so child doesnt continually access the AppStore.
Would be great if questions were slightly larger for kids to read quicker. Also a choice of vehicles or even just colour of them would add to appeal, especially for girls.
General review Brilliant app that is fun and entertaining for children over a wide age group. Educational aspect is fantastic and have seen an improvement in my girls Maths skills already. Actually has children enjoying what can be boring Maths drills. Even caught Daddy having a go!

Professor Chomp v1.0 [text]

Link to the App Store

Rating
What I liked Loved the concept and the tilting of the iPad to play the app. All of the family enjoyed the challenges of collecting or dodging where appropriate. The graphics and dog character were especially enjoyed by my youngest two girls. Great for colour recognition in younger children.
Improvements Felt a bit confusd as to what age group app is for. Didn't feel exciting or vibrant enough for children but not challenging enough for adults. Felt it needs a longer time limit for the kids and perhaps a change of background as levels are passed. Would love to see option for level of difficulty as this would then turn it into a family app for young and old.
General review Prof. chomp is a great unique app with a fantastic concept. Well enjoyed by all of the family and with a few tweaks this would increase the longevity of the app in our household. Kids enjoyed the challenge of collecting correct orbs and dodging the bad ones. Fantastic for developing hand eye coordination skills.

SirMania - Play & Learn v1.1 [text] [video]

Rating
What I liked Adore the graphics i found them unique to other apps of similar genre. Great game with great fun and educational components. Lots of interactive parts to each level for children to explore which keeps app fresh. Praise for completion of a task is really enthusiastic and encouraging for children especially the younger age bracket. Farm setting ensures app isn't gender specific.
Improvements Would love to see more levels ie picking fruit and counting into basket or word associations for fruit/veg. Owl voice to become clearer and potentially by someone who doesn't have such a strong accent. I found owl pooping inappropriate for the age group and unnecessary in such a otherwise brilliant app. Would like a return to menu button as well as a contact us facility. Also feel the link to Facebook and the reward for a child/parent doing this feels like a major drawback, would prefer a website rather than social media.
General review I found Sirmania to be a fun and educational app. The illustrations are stunning and enjoyed by both child and adult alike. I feel that there are a few very serious issues that need to be rectified in this app in order for it to be age appropriate. However, these issues are easily fixed and the content within the app is fantastic. With a few tweaks it would be an app I would keep for my children to play and recommend to others.

Thumbelina : 3D Pop-up Fairy Tale v1.0 [text]

Link to the App Store

Rating
What I liked Graphics are really cute. Children enjoyed the interactive aspect of the app and itnhelped to hold the attention of even the youngest child playing. A classic fairy tale beautifully retold. Loved the feeling of reading a conventional book whilst using iPad.
Improvements Narration was a bit slow and computer generated. This led to it sounding slightly monotone at times and losing the attention of the children. Would love to be able to dedicate the book to child on the inside cover to help personalise the story/app.
General review A cute interactive story based app that all of my children enjoyed initially and continue to enjoy. A few minor fixes to the narration would really help to liven this app. Contains a variety of game plays that appeal to both genders and a broad age range.

What I liked Fun and unique app that is appealing to parents and children alike. Graphics are bright and eye catching. Children loved being able to play around with the various sound effects particularly in vinyl mode. Ability to record and playback was a distinct hit in our household. Children loved dancing to their own music.
Improvements Found the app tricky to use at times. Children need constant help in order to play with the app which they found frustrating as it impeded on their ndependence. Would like to see a set bulk price for songs. Also would like more children orientated music ie nursery rhymes to mix or animal sounds.
General review Great app that is unique and unlike anything currently available on the App Store. Children and parents enjoyed playing with the app although feel it needs to be more child orientated in terms of playability. The app would become quite expensive in a short time.

What I liked App has a great concept that would be enjoyed by many. The sound effects and background music were brilliant and helped to add to the atmosphere of the game play. Storyline was fun and involving and additional missions to purchase would definitely add to longevity of the app.
Improvements App crashed the first time I played it to the extent it had to be deleted and reinstalled. Also found it annoying to use on an iPad yet not quite able to play it on iPhone effectively. Retro style graphics were fun initially although I did find it tedious after awhile especially when it came to the map.
General review A great app that no doubt many enthusiasts and newbies would love alike. Atmosphere of app is enjoyable although the graphics do take away from this. Missions are great and become very addictive. With crash issue fixed and a separate iPad app to appeal to iPad customers this could be a fantastic app.

Christmas Karaoke: Christmas Carols & Christmas Songs vers 1.0 [text]

Link to the App Store

Rating
What I liked A fun app for all the family during the festive period. Brilliant to have all of the lyrics to songs we all know and love but can't always remember all of the words. The highlighting helped to add the karaoke element. Loved the other singers in some of the songs. The background info to the songs is an excellent extra.
Improvements Found some of the music to sound very computer generated. Would prefer for it to be genuine musical recording. Some of the text also appears slightly blurred/not crisp and clear. Some songs also seemed to be a lot slower than they are normally sung. Would also like to see app itself jazzed up a bit ie different backgrounds for various songs. Also potentially have in app purchases to be able to expand music library.
General review Great app although feel it needs more refinement. As is, I think the price is quite expensive for what the app is although a few extra tweaks to it would make it worthwhile. Brilliant concept that I know many families including ours would love during the Christmas period.

What I liked The variety and number of exercises in each section is thorough and well laid out. The ability to practise or answer questions in a test mode adds to enjoyability and longevity of app. Feature of being able to make comments to developer is fantastic.
Improvements Prefer not to have game centre login, not necessary for this age group. Would also like some more science questions and a geography topic. The price is a bit high for each individual topic and some topics have sufficiently less questions making some topics expensive. Would prefer to purchase one pack per age group containing all topics.
General review Fantastic app with loads of questions in key subject areas in a variety of primary age groups. Ability for app to be used by multiple age groups simultaneously is useful. A little overpriced for what it is and the content. Unique style educational app.

Hamster Chase [text] [video]

Rating
What I liked Fun app full of interesting challenges. Jokes are entertaining even if very cheesy. The control of settings for sensitivity and ability to skip or repeat levels makes this a family friendly app. High quality app with loads of levels for an incredibly inexpensive price.
Improvements Would like to see a greater variety of music, the current music is enjoyable for first few levels but soon becomes grating. Would also like the ability to contact the developer without using social media. The colour variance of the light brown to dark brown hamsters could be better if the variance was increased or a totally different colour.
General review Fantastic app that is loads of fun for all the family. Provided amusement for onlookers as well as those playing it. Good progressions in difficulty in the levels with a variety of challenges to prevent app from becoming boring. Well priced app that is actually inexpensive for the amount of levels and quality of app. Definite winner in our household.

Baby Phone [text]

Link to the App Store

Rating
What I liked Fantastically fun and amusing app for little ones who love to play with mum and dads phones. Music is really fun and lively with cute pictures. Love the variety and choice of music. Colour scheme is attractive to parents and stimulating for young children.
Improvements Remove adds! Really inappropriate to have adds on app for a baby. Baby was constantly pressing them. Also would love it if the numbers pressed corresponded to the numbers being shown along the top. Potentially even add the audio so when number is pressed there is an audio stating the number.
General review Bright and amusing app for babies. Great to see an app that has been specifically designed for phone obsessed babies. Sadly while it has advertising links within the app it will be considered by a lot of parents including myself as inappropriate and instantly deleted. Remove the add and it's a winner!

What I liked Fantastic app for the intended age group. Bright eye catching graphics that are amusing and entertaining. Great combination of a storybook with a level of interactiveness to hold the attention of a young child. Extra gameplay is an appreciated extra.
Improvements Big fixed of blank screen. Ability to contact developer and adjust sounds etc. would be great to see the Toucan hidden on all pages of the storybook for children to find. A stronger moral to the story would be great ie have monkey apologise and then help fix the issue.
General review Fantastic entertaining app that is sure to be a winner with the targeted age group. The ability to play the games seperately to the storybook helps to hold the attention of the child. Brilliant value for the small price tag. Interactiveness of storybook adds to the entertaining factor whilst word highlighting is great for those learning to read.

PUZZINGO Puzzles (Pro Edition) – Animated Kid’s Puzzles [text]

Link to the App Store

Rating
What I liked Fun and appealing graphics in a user friendly app. Large variety of puzzles to suit both genders and a range of abilities. A unique twist to the usual puzzle style app that certainly wont be a one hit wonder. Children really enjoyed the overall circus theme to the app.
Improvements More puzzles that help teach children about their environments ie fruit and vegetable, weather, maps. Also potentially even name count the balloons as popping. Balloons on completion of app were enjoyable to pop although child expected them to stop appearing eventually.
General review Great app that is easy to use and enjoyable for a wide range if ages and abilities. Enough content within each puzzle to amuse younger players while still enjoyable for the older children with learning difficulties. Fantastic variety of puzzles although eagerly awaiting more (as promised) to warrant the price tag.

SIMPLY MISSY HD [text]

Rating
What I liked App has cute graphics with an adorable little girl. Story line is fantastic and the shopping list concept is one that is loved by most preschoolers. Pleasant background music means the rest of the family isn't annoyed having to listen to app. Bubble popping held a younger child's attention to the app when she started to stray.
Improvements Please fix grammatical errors. Also boys voice is cute but can be unclear at times. The words appearing is a great concept for adults but proved to be a distraction for young kids who then weren't paying attention to the words. Maybe simply highlighting the word as spoken with text there as a constant? Also my eldest kept searching for a back arrow in order to change choice of shoes etc.
General review Really great app that is unique and quite simply adorable. A few tweaks to this app and it would be near on perfect. Very popular with my young girls (2 & 4) who started fighting over it! Fantastic storyline all packaged into one well rounded and enjoyable app.

Aladdin and the Wonderful Lamp 1.0 [text]

Rating
What I liked Attractive graphics and pleasant background music that added to the general ambience of the app. Style of writing is very easy to follow by a younger child when read aloud to them. Loved the sketches that were on some of the pages. Forward and backward buttons being doves is also quite a cute idea.
Improvements Would like a clearer button to press to start story, I spent a few moments hunting and pressing everywhere on the screen in a sttempt to find the start button. Also found the app to be more of an ebook as opposed to an interactive and personal story. Would like a voice over option and word highlighting.
General review I quite enjoyed this app but felt it was lacking. I think the reason I was left with this impression is that the app doesn't match it's description. As a pure ebook app it's great but as an interactive and personalised app book it falls short of the mark. App had potential just needs to be tweaked or have description modified.

ROAR! v1.0 [text]

Link to the App Store

Rating
What I liked Really cute and attractive graphics. Love the concept. Was surprised to find that even my 4yo couldn't get enough of scaring the animals away. A potentially very noisy app but that is what is so appealing. Great app for more than just one player. Loved the different levels and the lion appearing at end of each level.
Improvements Would like to see something at the beginning showing kids what to do. It's a really basic concept of how to interact with the app but took us awhile to get it going. More levels required for the current price tag. Also would prefer the section that allows you to emailed to be on front page of app and not within the gameplay, I do like that it is hidden out of sight by one click.
General review Really fun app that gets all in the room wanting to play and get involved. My children loved the app and while it is an app for amusement rather than educational I found that it was highly interactive and great for cooperative play between children. Sounds and graphics are fantastic and the variety of animals present is great. For the current price I feel it should have some more levels, even two more would just make it feel more substantial.

Matryoshka! deluxe [text]

Rating
What I liked Original and unique app that is very popular with preschoolers. Loads of different "types" of dolls help increase the longevity of the app. I enjoyed the app as a parent especially the educational aspect however it was when my preschooler got her hands on it I truly found its niche. She loved it, and became enthral led in it. She returns to it time and time again. It's not gender specific which is refreshing! Security settings for adults is A+
Improvements Maybe have an arrow either side of main menu to help children to understand that there are more games/levels. Don't particularly like the frankenstein set as feel they are a little young for the scarier type of images. Also maybe a sound affect so children know when they have put the dolls together in wrong order.
General review Absolutely brilliant app. Intuitive, engaging and fun for children. This is definitely more than a one day hit for preschoolers. Progression of dolls helps to challenge children slowly at apace they want ie they can return to easier dolls. Sounds and graphics are fantastic.

He is Risen, An Easter Story [text]

Rating
What I liked Loved the feel of the app as a whole and the various sections. Great value for money. Graphics are brilliant and help hold the attention of younger members for the family. Love the activities for the various ages, helps to reinforce the story and their understanding. Also liked that individual readers can press on a word they struggle with to hear it said out loud.
Improvements We felt that the story needed a better opening to give children more of an idea who Jesus was and why he was crucified. Would like to be able to tap on the animations and have them take up the full screen as often after reading the text the children then want to look at and discuss what they see. Would be awesome to maybe have a short version and a long version of story for the various concentration levels.
General review A fantastic app that is great value for money. Brilliant graphics and is a user friendly app easily operated by adult or child alike. I appreciated that it didn't focus on the more gruesome side of the story like some app as it kept it appropriate for all age groups. Would like an extra paragraph at beginning explaining who Jesus was to help new believers and younger holders of the faith.

Cutie Monsters-Jigsaw Puzzles [text]

Link to the App Store

Rating
What I liked Great graphics that appeal to both genders. Great app that is fun yet educational and interactive. Daughter loved the puzzles and the "cute" monsters. The counting pages are great and its brilliant that the same monsters are used then in the puzzles for continuity. No links to Facebook or Internet makes this a sound and safe app for children.
Improvements In the "read it myself" section it would be great for child to touch the word an have it spoken to them to assist learning new words and then in other section for each page to automatically be read to them. Child had issues finding button to advance the page. It's i a logical spot but is too subtle in colouring. In puzzles section would be great if it automatically advanced to next puzzle upon completion.
General review Great app that is fantastic value for money which I would even say is underpriced. Only a few minor tweaks (ie brighter arrows and counting pages read to child) and this would definitely be a five star app! Nice to see gender neutral graphics and an app with no links to the Internet.

4 Dice: Fraction Games v1 [text]

Link to the App Store

Rating
What I liked Fantastic app that makes practising fraction equations more lively and fun. Love that students can practise individually or compete against each other. Whiteboard facility and breakdown of equation answers are both great key elements that make this app so worthwhile.
Improvements Would love to see a difficulty setting so that students who are struggling could do slightly easier equations. Connecting the devices was slightly time consuming although this may be a hardware technicality? Remove the link to the App Store, instead provide the name of the developer for students/parents to look onto further
General review Absolutely fantastic app that helps students to practise fraction equations in a fun way. Devices once paired worked smoothly with no issues. Exceptional value for money. Great to have whiteboard facility, broken down answers and also ability to email results to teacher/parent.

Animal Planet Hide & Seek Pets [text]

Rating
What I liked Loved the number of activities for children and the variety of activities. The fact that the activities have two levels of difficulty helps this app to meet a variety of age groups and prevent boredom. Interesting facts for children is an imoortant and great addition. Great to see security on access Internet etc.
Improvements Less American related facts please. Also feel that the front home screen would be better if it had the various animals rather than the hamster and some logical and illogical items (flower, bubbles??). Would also be great if too drop down list appeared permanently down on front screen.
General review Fantastic app that is suitably priced for the fantastic array of activities and enjoyability. Love the graphics and photos of animals, very bright and appealing. Educational facts, letter tracing and highlighting of words as narrated turn this app from being just a game app to being of educational value.

Word Crush Mania v1.1 [text] [video]

Rating
What I liked Challenging and enjoyable app with lots of challenges and levels to keep it addictive and fun. Love that it is more than just your standard word making game. Appreciate that you can purchase extra coins to give you an advantage. Leasing graphics albeit slightly dull.
Improvements Removal of the constant advertising, I found this truly distracted from the fun gameplay and detracts from the game. Music was quite annoying to the point that I had to mute it, so maybe offer a few songs to choose from? Would love to see the option to compete against other people via Bluetooth.
General review A fantastic app that is lots of fun, loads of challenges and extra within the game makes it more challenging the more you play it. Sadly the constant advertising makes this app unbearable and most likely to be deleted immediately. Would be happy to pay for the opportunity to remove advertising.

Wubbzy's Animal Coloring Book [text]

Link to the App Store

Rating
What I liked Great colouring book app with loads of functions and plenty of fun to be had. I liked the number of colouring pages and that there is also a blank option for freestyle drawing. Also appreciate the block style colouring in whereby children don't have to be concerned with staying within the lines. Great variety of colours and stickers as well as colouring utensils. Fantastic that no outside link to the Internet is included that children can easily access. Zooming in and out and the fact app starts off where ended last when reopened are all signs of a thoroughly well developed app.
Improvements Would like to maybe include some background music as an option. Large variety of colours are great although some more vibrant and brighter colours would be appreciated. I enjoy pastels but young children love bright. Spray paint function could also be a little brighter when being sprayed, it took a few swipes over same spot to really see a colour change.
General review Fantastic colouring book app with plenty of fun for young children. Large variety of pages to colour in with lots of colouring options and colours means children of a variety ages have the ability to play without frustration or boredom. Love the options of photos inclusion and stickers.

The Miracles of Jesus [text]

Rating
What I liked Fantastic app that is great value for money. Quality narration with great use of time that will hold even the youngest of players attention. Highlighting of words and pictures changing also add an additional dimension. Great variety of activities that appeal to a large age group making this a truly family app!
Improvements Would love a few more pics in the early level of the book to help hold preschoolers attention. Also feel beginning of book needs a bit more of a preamble as to Jesus being Son of God and the conception etc. Would be great to have some questions to help families reflect on the story together.
General review Absolutely brilliant app that is fantastic value for money. Amazing range of activities that will meet the needs and attention span of most family members. Video like pictures have a novelty affect that keeps even the younger kids amused. All in all a fantastic app created by a truly quality developer.

What I liked Fantastic value for money app that has loads of content and varying levels. Educational and engaging, a hit with both genders over a large age group. Fantastic to see extra original idea such as musical memory and dress up game of different cultural outfits etc. Videos are a great way to show children visually other countries. A great app that is jam packed full of content and educational fun!
Improvements A quicker download process ie if buying whole pack then not having to click on each item to download. Errors need to be fixed up, Australia in particular has major errors, the continent game incorrectly depicts Australia and her inhabitants, animal names also has an error. Not all cultural videos loaded either.
General review Fantastic app that is jam packed with fun and educational content. A serious shame about the errors which I feel injects a degree of uncertainty regarding the accuracy of the content. If errors are resolved this would certainly be a 5star app that I couldn't praise enough. So many different angles of play that engage even the most reluctant players. Would love to see even more areas focusing on more individual countries, happy to pay extra.

What I liked Fast loading with bright and entertaining music and graphics.
Love that levels slowly increase in difficulty and that the hardest levels keep even adults entertained!
The animated graphics are unique and lots of fun. My children thought hey were hilarious.
Improvements Would like to see the change of language option to be hidden within the parental settings.
Would be great if on the easier settings a noise was jab made when pieces placed in wrong spot for added guidance.
When puzzle pieces are being moved to a different place it would be helpful if the new piece to be place bumps or moves out whatever piece is already in place.
General review Fantastic app that is perfect for every member of the family to play. The graphics are entertaining and a unique and novel idea. Internet safe for the younger members of the family to be able to play unsupervised. Great idea, well executed and a winner in our house. Most importantly this app has longevity, it won't be a one hit wonder.

Sound Tap Quiz 1.0.5 [text]

Rating
What I liked Great app with a large range of objects/animals for children to hear and enjoy. Quiz option is a great extension that encourages chldren to identify animal from the sound. Like the fact that you can choose length of quiz etc within the settings and no outside access to Internet.
Improvements Would be great to have settings locked so children can't access it and make changes so easily. Also if to be used by toddlers would be fantastic if within the quiz section, less animals were shown to increase the toddlers likelihood of success. Would also like the NEXT button to light up green when child has answered question correctly.
General review Cute app that is fun for children and toddlers alike. Quiz component extends the longevity of this app and it's playing ages. Variety of objects/animals is fantastic with the inclusion of not only standard items but also lesser shown items/animals ie seals. Images of objects/animals are clear and cute. Unisex app that has a fun and cute icon on the ipad screen. Altogether a great app.

What I liked An attractive app that is fun and girls and very appealing to young girls of all ages. Great value for money with a fantastic variety of extras such as games and art as well as a cute interactive book. Daughters loved the book and it held their attention. Icon is great!
Improvements Some sound effects were annoying for someone not playing the app ie the sound of clicking on menu when within the app started to drive others in the house crazy! Games are great although would prefer not to have the candy crush style game included, as don't feel it's as age appropriate as the rest of the features.
General review A fantastic app with gorgeous graphics. Interactive story alone is brilliant and with the additional features (games and art play) this app is fantastically priced and great value for money. This app is sure to be loved by little girls everywhere.

Magical Music Box v1.15 [text]

Rating
What I liked Gorgeous graphics on an awesome and unique app. Refreshing to see a new idea bringing music to the iPad in a fun and engaging manner. Arrow guiding children what to do is fantastic. App is one children as young as two can play alone or with others yet still entertaining for school aged children. Loved the ability to control the tempo yet also use autoplay. Great to be able to skip to next song and the additional control options.
Improvements Would like to see a more inviting and attractive icon. The app is amazing and kids adore it but they aren't drawn to the icon when browsing their apps. Like to see other countries national anthems or option to select your own to include. App crashed once when looking at the written list of songs. On song selection page there appeared to be no difference when pressing with of the two icons on top right of screen. For quality of app I would describe this app as underpriced.
General review What an amazing, unique and fantastic app. A massive hit with preschoolers and adults alike. Fantastic ability to choose songs and background with educational aspect of history of the song for family discussion and auto play for tempo guidance. Altogether a very impressive and unique app that will definitely remain a firm favourite of children and adults alike for a long time.

What I liked Cute graphics and fun storyline. Narrator has a pleasant voice that my children responded well too. Children loved the butterfly and hunting for it on each page. Interactive pictures add an extra depth to the story to help maintain interest of younger players.
Improvements Games needs to be separated from settings so children don't wrongly access settings.
Would like to see settings parent locked with a smaller icon to prevent pre readers accessing areas they shouldn't be.
Wish the reoccurring butterfly did something when touched ie fly away.
Potentially priced at a higher level than I would expect.
General review Great interactive book app that is fun and enjoyable. Interactive aspect is fun and included options that help story to cater for pre readers and reader alike of great.
Games are enjoyable, sound effects are cute and storyline is cute. Over all a lovely app that is well made.

What I liked Cute, fun app that was enjoyed in our household. Children from a young as two enjoyed the fun free play. Great to see an app that allows children to play freely, express their creativity without being instructed in order to achieve a specified result! Allows kids to role play being a DJ etc.
Improvements Loading time was long and tedious and added frustration was when child accidentally tapped out of the game play page it then had to load again.
Would like to see a record and save function to allow kids to replay for friends and family.
Like to see a button for verbal instructions for pre reading age group.
General review Great app that is loads of fun for 2yrs +, even adults can have some fun. Girls instantly drawn to fairy aspect and love the creativity element. Safe app for kids to play without access to Internet or social media. Music is fun and young girls loved playing dj's and having disco parties!

What I liked Fun and entertaining. Kids enjoyed the various activities. The interactiveness of the number tracing helped to hold even the youngest child's attention. Various games were fun and enjoyed by preschoolers, the various gamers were fantastic for encouraging number recognition.
Well priced app from a strong developer.
Improvements Would like to see the number tracing to be altered so that the tracing path is all one fluid motion unless it isn't suppose to be (ie 2 is different to 4). Would also be great if within the "Save the Pets" game that as a child taps on pets to count them that they turn a different colour to prevent double counting. Would also like the games to have a random option where numbers appear not in numerical order.
General review Yet another solidly created, fantastic app from this developer. Lots of different activities that are all engaging, educational and fun! Cute characters, pleasant sounds and an app that parents and kids both love. No easy access to the Internet keeps children focussed on the app they should be playing.

What I liked Fantastic fun and engaging app for preschoolers and even early school years. Loads of extras included in this app makes it really well priced. Love the colour choices, they are bright and inviting but not gladly. Educational element is fantastic and had my 4yo predicting what number would occur next.
Improvements Not often do I find an app that I struggle to think of improvements! congrats to the developers!! Only minor adjustment would be to move the placement of the options to the front screen and to age lock it as well. It is currently right in a place where a young child accidentally plays with it then gets frustrated when they have accidentally turned music off!
General review This app was well liked by both 2 & 4 year old who insisted on trying it out. The additional elements of the app such as colouring, games, videos and interactiveness means this app is one that will most certainly be one children will enjoy for a long time.
Well developed app which is missing all of those annoying features of other apps!

What I liked Great concept with friendly narration and cute graphics. Loved the incorporation of qwerty keyboard and teaching students to become familiar with layout and additionals keys such as backspace. Ability to modify the settings is fantastic. Useful that child can re-enter app exactly where they left off last time.
Improvements The letter sounds was a bit unclear. Within the introduction itself, the n didn't sound like an n to me or any member of my family. Feel the words are slightly too complex for the kindergarten age group (ie sag is unusual) and the expectation of them to remember all of the functions may be a little tricky ie how to get a reminder, mover letters etc.
General review All in all a great concept and love the character and the graphics. Feel it needs some minor improvement before it would be regularly used and enjoyed by my kindergarten aged child. However, with a few tweaks it would be absolutely fantastic and in a series with other letter sounds etc this would become an amazing educational tool for parents and educators alike.

What I liked Appreciate the leader board that can be used for classroom play and to monitor external play but in addition the ability to turn it off for those not wanting that functionality.
The questions, variety of them and random mix are brilliant. Also enjoy the practice then timed testing function. Students also appreciated the blank background for writing out their workings and the ability to capture this in ther photo album for help after playing.
Improvements Found it irritating as I tried to drag finger across to select items that should be in brackets and the instructions/help sheet kept appearing. Found the concept of having to tap each individual element very restrictive.
Would like maybe a few more sound effects ie applause or verbal words of encouragement.
Also would like social media connection to be removed or password locked as in many countries it is illegal for children under 12 to use Facebook etc and likewise many schools have a no social media policy.
General review Fantastic app that provides students an excellent opportunity to reinforce their knowledge learnt. Enjoyable, challenging and rewarding this app is brilliant. Appreciate the ability to use it within the classroom setting and even to set homework etc. It is definitely more appealing to a Grade 5 to be set homework on their device then a textbook.

What I liked Love the beaver character and his narrative guide meaning app is useful for pre-readers.
App reopens where child left off last playtime which allows for continuity and less frustration on child's behalf when parents/educators advise ipad time has finished. Fantastic interactivity that has players up and about while using iPad but not to a level that has parent fearing for device.
Unique app that is highly educational, never come across an app that involves compass work for children before, it's amazing.
Improvements Found the app to be quite jerky when moving from one activity to another. Also 4yo complained about the load time.
Ability for child to open grown up section is too easy with the child able to understand they need to hold button until line moves across. Remove the line and they would be less likely to hold for 3 seconds.
Really wish social media wasn't included in parent options, it's not needed.
General review Fantastic app that is truly unique and highly educational but fun. Children are learning without even realising. Useful for classroom and home application.
At $4.99 I think it is slightly overpriced as the game once finished isn't one a child would replay repeatedly.

What I liked Awesome interactive app that is gender neutral. Various levels within the app allows pre-readers to engage independently with app as well as beginning and proficient readers.
Great sparkling effect used to guide children where to tap to discover more interactive surprises.
Love that app starts off on page child was last at, prevents tears when app accidentally closed or when parents impose device time restrictions,

Improvements Would like to see in the addition game the corresponding number of dots under each number to assist youngster who are learning addition.
Issue on second page particularly, where the speech bubble was up yet sparkles guided you to touch elsewhere. Child got frustrated as they weren't sure where to touch and didn't realise they needed speech bubble to finish due to the sparkles guiding them in a different direction.
Would also like ability to contact developer if there is an issue or need for improvement.
General review Fantastic app that is enjoyable, interactive and educational. Appeals to a large age group and both genders.
Fantastic variety of extras such as music, games and painting. Really appreciate that the developers other apps are hidden from children yet adults can view.
Great topic to be covering for children and appreciate that it educates them in a fun, non scary and engaging manner.
App too good to be free to be honest!

What I liked WOW. A fun, fast paced adventure game for kids to practice their maths. What an amazing app that will become the new best friend of many a primary (and secondary) teacher.
Engaging and mysterious this game is addictive and engaging, whilst educating. What more can one want!
Great app that can be set as homework or fun time in class when all other work is complete.
Improvements The app icon is a bit gruesome looking and not overly keen on it for use in the school or for parents to see (admittedly some boys would love it). Likewise name of app on icon is unclear.
Load time is slightly long and a bit tedious, any chance of reducing it?
Also found the jumping a bit tricky to control, it didnt seem to be sensitive enough.
General review All in all an amazing app that is brilliant for any child to practice their arithmetic. Unique, addictive, education and fun, it's edutainment at it's best. A must have app for any teacher to have in their classroom.
App is definitely underpriced!, would love to see more in the series.

Plume's school - Animals [text]

What I liked Cute and basic app that will keep the under three age group amused and occupied. Game play is engaging and educational. Varying degrees of difficulty with clear level options for children to be able to independently choose and play.
Fantastic variety of games, with youngster unlikely to become bored with the app.
Positive reinforcement when achieved correct answer a definite plus.
Improvements Make sure animal names are accurate. There is no such thing as a koala bear! They are called koala's and aren't even related to the bear family.
Unrealistic expectation for children of this target audience to be able to read the more complex animal names and match to the spoken word. That age group would probably think the app looks a bit "babyish" .
Maybe an additional game to practice writing?
In the game of finding the animal as its drifting past on and off the screen, found child had to wait a substantial time for e animal to be float past, caused childtomdoubt their accuracy.
General review Really like the app and think it is a cute app that toddlers, preschoolers and parents alike will enjoy. With inaccuracies fixed this app would be fantastic and great value for money.
Awesome variety of games and levels increases the attractiveness of this app to parents of children with various ages.

Jack and the Beanstalk a Mathematical Adventure - HD V1.1 [text]

Link to the App Store

Rating
What I liked Attractive graphics and pleasant narrator, great concept that engages children. Storyline is the friendly jack and the beanstalk we all know and kindergarten aged kids and early school years will enjoy the app as a stand alone book. The maths aspect will create a more challenging book/game app for older kids.
Improvements Buttons all different colours are confusing visually. Maybe have the various proceed buttons green?
Dollar amounts need to be read in full ie four dollars and twenty five cents not four twenty five. To increase clarity.
Hard to figure out how high the beanstalk should be against the measuring tape. Maybe increase the size of the tape?
General review Great app that follows the beloved Jack and the beanstalk fairytale. It's maths adventures are fantastic and engaging for children. It isn't however suitable for kindergarten and grade 1 age groups who would become highly frustrated with it in its current format. Maybe divide into two options, one with maths one without? . Great idea and lovely designed app overall, just needs a few tweaks.

What I liked Cute and educational app with graphics young children are sure to adore. The range of objects for each letter is perfect in number and variety. Narrator is clear and precise assisting children to understand. Pleasant app for parents to listen to while children are playing.
Improvements Would prefer to see the animals do an action or make a noise that kids will recognise ie for the alligator have him snapping his mouth shut or have the bear growl. This will help to make the app more interactive and engaging for preschoolers. Would be great to give the kids an opportunity to trace the letter too.
General review Cute, fun and interactive app that is sure to be enjoyed by most preschoolers. Pleasant for adults to play and listen too! Not sure I would pay $3.99 for the app, however if it included letter tracing I think the price point would be justified. Graphics are gorgeous and both my daughters responded positively to this app.

What I liked Solid app that is very useful in assisting students in revising key information. The ability to adjust the topics and timing etc are brilliant and allow the user to personalise this app to their needs. The feedback and answer justifications are great.
Improvements Would like it to have more pictorial based questions for students who learn visually. Also a few interactive questions would also liven this app and encourage students to use it more frequently. Maybe a few sound effects etc to also create a more enjoyable studying experience for students.
General review Great app that is ideal for anyone studying this subject matter. Certainly a helpful more lively and useful alternative option to studying direct from the textbook. Would love a bit more of a range in style of questions but otherwise this is a fantastic app. Not sure I would pay $4.99 for the app as it stands at the moment, maybe a slightly lower price tag would be more appropriate.

Simplex Spelling Phonics - Rhyming With CVC Words (v 2.0.0) [text]

What I liked Great app that has strong educational benefits for use by both an educator and parents alike. Ability to customise the app is brilliant as well as the variety of levels and content included. Clear instructions make this app easy to use however does require and adult to sit beside student to guid them.
Improvements Would like to see app freshened up and made more child friendly, feels too regimented and not lively enough to hold the attention of a young child. Needs to be more engaging, maybe have narrators voice more animated and include some fun graphics, and even a picture of the words to help students who are pictorial learners.
General review Thorough app that is filled with fantastic educational content that would be ideal for both home and school use. Well priced app given the level of content. Needs to be made more child friendly and appealing to encourage engagement and deeper learning by children.

What I liked A great educational app that has awesome extras. The games are a fantastic touch to help maintain children's interest and check for understanding. The range of levels of books is great and gives kids a sense of achievement to accomplish one level and progress. The ability for kids to buy songs with coins they have earns though reading is brilliant. Graphics are fun and appealing to all. Security settings are fantastic.
Improvements My child complained the narrators voice was too boring, it came across very monotone. Also some classics like the gingerbread man were very different to the classsic causing some kids to get annoyed. Would like the books to have a bit more to their stories to hold interest. Some levels had a lack of any neutral or girl books, this app felt like it was distinctly created for boys with girls as an afterthought.
Would love the ability for children to gave their own logins so multiple children can use the app effectively.
General review Overall a fantastic app that with a few tweaks would be amazing. Distinctly lacking books with a storyline however once that is resolved it would be a long term hit. Not too keen on the subscription packages, I'd rather just buy the books outright, even if it is on an individual basis.
