Happi 123 HD [text] [video]

App description: Happi 123 teaches counting, addition. subtraction, number series and pattern recognition in a non-linear fashion. You can start with the easiest level or jump right into something more difficult. Each level, or more correctly, practice area has an accompanying puzzle that reinforces the concept further.

What I liked Good app tp help children learn about their number and counting. There are different type of game modes that will keep children busy for a. While. I also like how children can earn reward if they completed the level. This really keep my son to come back for more.

Improvements The developer should definitely add some sort of instruction for each of the game mode. My son got frustrated with one of the hand counting game mode and he doesn't really want to play all the other similar game mode anymore. For younger children, a verbal instruction will probably hetter? On the domino game mode, it'll be better if the user can rotate the pieces instead of locking the orientation and then automatically turning them either horizontal or vertical. Please allow me to go to setting from within the app instead of forcing me to o to general setting and then look for happi 123

General review Cute graphic, catchy tunes , multiple gsme modes and reward system. What else can you ask for? Children will keep on coming back to to play this app and they won't even realized that they are learning while playing a game. Instruction would really help some user.

What I liked I really enjoyed this application. It has colors that are bright and engaging. It has multiple math options that keep the user interested in learning. Immediate reinforcement is provided by the light showing with the correct answer or the shaking of hands for incorrect answer. Stickers/buttons are given for the completion of a "round". I really enjoyed the timed section. I believe that will keep users engaged and trying to increasingly beat their own high score. I enjoyed the domino sections that accompanied the standard finger counting sections because that adds an element of problem solving.

Improvements As with most apps that I come across, I typically try to find a section that talks about how to utilize the app. For some apps, this one is somewhat included, the "how to" section is pretty self-explanatory, so maybe not so needed. A brief description as to the purpose of each section would be beneficial because it isn't all self-explanatory. There was a lot of trial/error that had to be done throughout learning the app. I enjoyed the finger counting, but the ability to pick which finger is used, in my opinion, could result in some inappropriate use of the application.

General review This is a very comprehensive application focusing on early math concepts. The variation provided is great for motivation purposes! At this point, the app does not include a "how to" section, so trial/error is completed for understanding of some sections; however, this should not deter you from the app! You can figure them out! There is a timed section for users to see how many correct answers they can reach, which adds that extra boost for fun!

What I liked I love this app! The music is great and it is very colorful. I love that it practices one to one correspondence using fingers which is something that lots of children can relate to. The ability to earn different badges and items for the character is great also. I also like the feature to be able to turn off the verbal cues and reset the app.

Improvements I really would like to see some form of directions added. I was confused on what to do when I first opened the app. The directions could be verbal or visual. You could even put them on the parent page. I would also like to see the app count consecutively when in the 1:1 correspondence area when touching the objects the child counts. Children do not always count from left to right. Often my 3 year old got confused because he began on the right. (Please note that the first video was interrupted soI had to restart the recording. Here are the first 50s: http://youtu.be/DH-lCNj37Sw)

General review I love this app! I am looking forward to using it in my classroom to practice one-to-one correspondence, addition, subtraction, and number patterns. The music and voices are inviting and the rewards are motivating. I would like to see some form of directions added to help kids get started with using it and prevent frustration.

What I liked There is a lot to like in this app! Music, graphics, illustrations, voice, sound effects, and variety of language options were all very good! I like the goal of having accessories to decorate the tiger. Also, the tile/dice/domino exercise is really nice. Good effects, nice length, looks good.

Improvements I would like to see some variety and maybe shortening of the applause feedback after every example. I could see the repetition of that shortening gameplay because it's annoying after awhile. It's well executed, but very repetitive and a tad too long. Took too long to figure out the reward system. Also, the parent page doesn't scroll, and is cut off. I would like to see French added. In the last section of the app, I did 23 questions, then it crashed.

General review I think this app is a fun addition to any preschooler's or young elementary student's device. Also, it's great for learning numbers 1-10 in several languages. The app is beautifully rendered as well as very nice audio elements (music, speech, effects). The questions are grouped in good sizes for achieving progress with the awards.

What I liked I liked this app right from the start! The music is fun but not overpowering and you could figure it out within 30 seconds if you didn't read the directions for parents. I like the sequencing of the math tasks and that it starts with finger counting and moves to numbers and dots (dominoes).

Improvements I would like to see a title at the top of each activity (ex. subtraction using fingers or sequencing, or Show off all your skills -on the last screen - but don't call it a test). I wish the rewards were more varied - make one time confetti and the next the tiger or light up the snail or something. As an educator I wish there was a way to not allow the middle finger to be put up without another finger - kids will figure that out....PROBLEM!

General review I loved this app! This is one of the best math apps I have seen for younger children. The sequencing of activities is appropriate and fun. This app can be used in teaching basic math skills or as a reinforcer or used at home to help a struggling student.
