What I liked 1. This is a very interesting application for learning basic math. It's a very nice way to catch some kids attention.
2. The main character is very cute and kids love it. And all the other characters that hop on the train are also very cute. Kids want to play with them. So is the music and the overall atmosphere.

Improvements 1. The writing in the parents section of the application is very small on an iPhone. But on the larger screen of the iPad, it's okay. The overall app feels like a native iPad app ported to the iPhone.
2. The app feels very repetitive with all the characters doing basically the same thing all over again. Unfortunately this free version is too restrictive and it's hard to get a better understanding of the full version.

General review This is an interesting application for teaching math to kids. The visuals and sounds are very good, but this is where the good thing stop. The app feels very repetitive and it's so lite that you can't make a good understanding about the full version. I wish I could try out the full version to have a better idea of the app.

What I liked I enjoyed the app! I believe it is great for foundational math concepts. I love that it incorporated a variety of ideas rather than focusing on one specific task. I believe this keeps the user engaged and wanting to proceed further in the task. I also love that animals are incorporated throughout. I believe adding animals as it is played increases the motivation to continue on! For a free app, there are a lot of great concepts included!

Improvements It is hard to request items to be improved when the app is free. Every app takes time to develop and put on the iTunes store, so for you to want feedback on a free app, I admire you. The only suggestion I can make is to eliminate choices that are selected and incorrect. I know they are highlighted, but for some of the students I work with, they would choose it again. That highlighting would not be a clue to them that it was incorrect.

General review Great app! I am sure the full version encompasses more and is just as great. I feel like this free version provides great insight into what the full version includes and would suggest it to families/educators working on basic number identification. Very impressed!

What I liked Lola is a cute panda bear that kids seem to love. The colors and animation are wonderful. Every kid loves trains and animals. Having an app with a train full of animals is a huge draw! My kids were excited to see what animal they could pick up next.

Improvements The first time I played, the sound stopped working. I had to reinstall in order to get the sound back. Second, when Lola says we need to chose a difficulty level, the only option is easy. It says to tap the arrow if you want to practice numbers first. Maybe this is because this is the free version, but it shouldn't say to chose a level if there is no choice. I don't like Lola's voice, either. She looks like a young character, but she sounds like an adult woman. There should be more to offer in the free version. Personally, I wouldn't buy the full version if this was the sample I was given.

General review I like the idea, but there are issues. There is not enough in this free version that would make me want to purchase another version. It is the same questions and puzzles each time. The app descriptions says there is adding and subtracting in this app, but there is none in this version.

What I liked I loved the colorful animals included in this app, that would definitely appeal to the youngsters this app is designed for. The train sounds are also I plus which will thrill the young children using this app. The math skills covered at the easy level are very appropriate for the targeted age group.

Improvements I realize that this is the free version but I would like the app to be able to save where you leave off - keeping the earned animals until you can completely fill the train cars. That is my only suggestion as I was very impressed with the app as is designed.

General review I appreciate that a free version is available so that parents can see the app in action before deciding to possible purchase the full version. I feel this app would be a great addition to preschool and kindergarten curriculum in schools. Awesome app!

What I liked Lola’s Math Train FREE has many concepts for a child to learn all at once. I like that it offers the ability to learn counting, number identification and number positions. I love the graphics. I think it is wonderful to put math to work with an item that young children like such as a train. I like that it gives the child several attempts to get the answer right and reinforces th right answer with positive praise.

My Wish list for a future version:

- I think the app is great but that each part of math should be broken down and put on a separate train track. A child cannot go from number identification to the understanding of which box has the most. As well as you cannot go from counting to subtraction. I think this should be a more concrete area with one concept per board/level.
- I found two bugs in the game. A few of the time when opening it I would not get the instructions read to me by Lola and one or two times when solving the puzzle it froze.

General review Overall, I think Lola’s Math Train Free is a great app for beginning learners. It has the ability to hold children’s attention as well as while playing it does not stop the child from playing when they get a wrong answer but rather allows them to keep trying until they get it right. The only thing that this is missing is subtraction, addition so if you want that you must purchase the full priced version.
