What I liked What I liked most about the app was the activities that go along with each book. The glossary section is great to teach the child the words before reading the story. The song activity is a catchy way for the child to learn the words as well. The find it and choose it activities help to reinforce the words the child is learning in an easy, fun way. I also like the fact that you can buy more books as the child learning ability increases.

Improvements What I disliked the most about the book I reviewed is that there is not an option for the child to touch the words and read the story by themselves. It is nice to have the read to me option as they are learning, but as the child progresses, I would like to see the option for them to try to read the story by themselves and touch the word and hear it sound out if they forget the word.

General review Phonics Fun Readers is a cute learning app for beginning readers. Not only does the app offer a basic introduction to reading, but also as the child progresses, more levels can be purchased for an expanded learning capability. Fun activities with each book add to the child's learning. I would recommend purchasing these books at the bundle price to get the full value of the app.

What I liked 1. I like that the application is free and you can install it and them see what book you want to buy. Also it's nice that you get one for free.
2. The levels are a nice touch. I like that the books are structured in this way.
3. The MY BOOKS sections is nice. I don't have to hunt for the books I purchased, I can find them all with a simple tap.

Improvements 1. The first thing I saw was that the LOCK PURCHASE in the settings menu is off by default. It should be on because this application is for children and if parents would like to buy something, they could turn it off.
2. I'm not a fan of the bookshelf format. It would be nice if the cover of the books would be larger, so they could be more visible.

General review Overall this is a good educational application for kids where they can learn objects and words. The content is really good and vast, with good voice acting and graphics. There are a few minor things to change in a future version, but nothing that can't be done.

What I liked The animation was appropriate for the intended age range. The voice overs were done well. All the functions of the app seemed to work properly in all situations. I like the fact that there are games that go directly with the story (beyond being simply theatrically tied to the narrative).

Improvements The one free book I could find is NOT worth $.99! I don't object to in-app purchases, but another course would be better: provide more free material or provide very low prices to bundle all available in-app purchases. I read Ant, Bug, and Cat. If I were judging the entire app by this one book, I would not spend ANY additional money for upgrades. There were small problems like typos - for example, on one page the text says "Bugs has ..." but the voiceover says "BUG has ...". There was also a verb tense shift - the present tense (has) was used until the last page when it shifts to past (had).

General review Disappointing. The free book offers limited animation, includes typos and verb tense shifts that could confuse youngsters learning to read. The menu works well but is unlikely to be used much by folks who decline to make any of the (relatively expensive) in-app purchases if they are unimpressed with the "hook" that the app offers. My suggestion: regroup and try again. Good animation, good narration, good functionality. Bad editing and economics.

What I liked I am on iOS 6.1.3, iPad 2 and I get nothing but a blank white screen. The app does not load. I deleted and reinstalled 3 times, with and without wifi. Nothing but a blank white screen. What I liked In general I liked the app's pedagogical Value, I like the graphics, the sound quality was also good. The extras like songs and games kept my kids' attention and the stories were ok for the price. We would have liked to try more levels, and if I see my 5yo replaying this app I will get a promotion pack.
We were familiar with Bob apps, and we liked the images here much more, although starting with consonants in alphabetical order seems odd.

Improvements The download speed was definitely what sticks out most for improvement, it is painfully slow, one story took over 7 minutes to download. We also had an error the first time we downloaded, I think the i.pad went into sleep mode and shut it down.
The graphics look too much like a web page in my opinion. I'd prefer sonething more touch friendly rather than a superior navigation bar like a web site and scroll to see the stories. The images on the right are pointless, you can't access the stories or their titles.
I think one story from each level should be free so parents can see the best option.

General review We liked this app and found it would be great in the ESL and English as a Foreign Language classroom. The illustration, sound and interactivity, while limited, ismore than acceptable for the price. We would like to see more app-like design and more description of the levels (pages, min of audio). I'm not giving it 5 stars due to the landing page- but really like the content and pricing strategy in general and will recommend it to teachers.
